Mega Rad Gun Thread

I heard that if you’re a first time gun owner you shouldn’t get mods like red dot sights and should just shoot with iron sights so you don’t become dependent, Is this bullshit
Largely bullshit, but it is important to know your gun in case of failure. If your relying on a red dot, either have backup sights or carry extra batteries in a compartment. The biggest factor of marksmanship is to train and know your limits. If your able to put three rounds into a 1 MOA circle at 50 yards standing, then realistically that's all you need. Everything else is just understanding what your limits are, and knowing potential points of failure.

115gr flat nose at 1320fps.
Fun fact: That is the same rated FPS as the 115GR Federal Hi-Shock 9BPLE used by the ISP since the '80s.

That load is "+P+" rated, btw. I got a case of the new super rounds for practice because its ballistically the same as my carry ammo.

You can teach a new shooter faster with a red dot than irons in my experience

I think new shooters can shoot red dots more effectively than irons, which means they can focus more on learning the other fundamentals like trigger control & whatnot.
But at some point they should learn how to shoot irons effectively because they still have their uses, especially if they want a gun for self-defense reasons.

I saw a couple of other videos of this, but why does the Cambodian military look like some broke rebel militia while the Thai military actually looks like a functional military? Yeah, their gear is archaic, but they at least seem somewhat trained and competent.
Cambodia is like the Haiti of Asia, dude.

On stream our dear feader announced he got a Glock 43 (he has baby hands and says it fits his hands well) and zeroed his AR. He also has a shotgun. He’s waiting to lose weight to buy tactical gear…

And now we shame him for his choice of carry (Glock 43) instead of going with the Glorious Glock 19
Single stack carry gun in 2025, shameful.

Calling a G19 "compact" is copium at it's finest. The G19 is a duty sized firearm that some people opt to carry after making wardrobe modifications.
I think your issue is more with the definition of "compact". Glocks are fat and bulky, but the G19 is pretty middling as far as "compact" goes in handguns. Beretta and HK are particularly bad about the definition of compact, compare a G19 to a PX4 storm or 92 compact. As far as I know the majority of guns that have "compact" in their designation or are advertised as such are either basically the same size or bigger. A good example is the much loved CZ75 compact, it's like the same exact size.

It is bs.
Use whatever tools help you become a better shooter but always remember the best thing you can do is just practice.

Seems like Sig's problems are contagious, spreading to Barrett.
"This seems to be a problem with a decent amount of the relatively new Barrett Mk22 military multi-cal sniper rifles. What's happening? *in most cases* the user pulls the trigger but doesn't get a bang. Instead, the rifles fire when the bolt is manipulated. It seems to be a different than the issue with Remington 700s that fire on their own but it also seems like a easier problem to fix but I suppose time will tell..."

Hey, I've seen this movie before! I don't know shit about non Mauser action bolt actions but I wonder if the two aren't rooted in the same issue. Dead trigger, moving the bolt sets the gun off.

Look at the trigger, weird huh?

That's interesting, it looks like a Seecamp 1911 conversion (Seecamp was a pre-war gunsmith who served on the Eastern Front in WW2, and when he moved to the US he experimented with converting 1911s to DA/SA out of fondness for the P38 ). Of course, since these were all pre-series 80, the safest way to carry them was cocked and locked, kind of defeating the point.

That gun looks like it could have been a tricked out Seecamp, but it seems to be missing the new sideplate on the right side that protects the new lockwork. It could just be the low resolution.

And powder technology has in fact advanced in 40 years.

Commander 1911 vs a regular. Its literally just a shorter slide and barrel.

I have a Beretta 96G Centurion, instead of the "standard" length 92 slide it has the "Compact" version, but on the regular frame, its basically the same size, lmao.

HK has always called the P30 and the VP9 a "Compact" despite both of them being larger than the USP Compact and P2k they replaced. The new VP9K "fixes" this by making the VP9 G19 sized by taking two rounds out of the grip (LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST FUCKING PLACE), and then fixing their magazines so they hold the two extra rounds anyways, like every other gun with a magazine the same physical size.

You can use the 15rnd VP9k mags with the USPC/P2k with just a baseplate change, btw.
