New Delhi – A send-off event was held at the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi on Friday for 11 assistant language teachers and three international exchange coordinators who will be dispatched from India to Japan.

This marks the first regular dispatch of assistant language teachers from India under the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme, a government initiative to promote international exchanges at the regional level. Only a few such personnel from India have participated in the program until now.

The assistant teachers and coordinators will engage in English education and international exchange activities at schools and municipal offices in 11 prefectures across Japan for three years.

Srishti Taneja, 24, will teach at elementary and junior high schools in the northern city of Otaru, Hokkaido. "I have received precious lessons and experiences from Japan and its people," she said in fluent Japanese. "Now, it is my turn to give back. I will do my best to support children in Japan."

The start of the regular dispatch program is "a great step forward in grassroots exchanges between Japan and India and essential to further strengthen bilateral relations," Japanese Ambassador Keiichi Ono said.

Yes, the name of the program is JET.

JET.

I have never, EVER heard an Indian without their thick, unlistenable accent. It's like they just learned the bare minimum of English, but never cared for intonation or sounding right. And these people are English teachers?!

Japan is cooked... 😔

"Street shitting in Tokyo, the Jeet expansion" coming to theaters in 2026.

Incredible. Remember the Indian grad student who taught my Finance course, decades ago. Could hardly understand a word he said.

For some reason don't believe this will go well.
I actually experienced this recently. It was so fucking painful.

Finding an Indian who speaks fluent English is like finding a unicorn. Those 2nd and 3rd generation born in the UK don't count.

I don't understand why you need an Indian to teach you English. A damn AI agent can already teach English better than an Indian for sure.

What the fucking fuck is going on in Japan. (:_(
There are a lot of Americans, military and military dependents, stationed throughout Japan. Those are the people you'd want to have teach English. Likely a bunch teach, on the side for military or full-time in the case of some dependents.

One relatively little-known problem regarding English is translating English into English. Some people who learned what they believe is English overseas, from non-native English speakers, have problems making themselves understood. Then you have to translate what they are saying into standard English. Not always easy.

Really high class Indians generally speak pretty good English if not perfect. Even though they are born in India they spend their youth at high end English speaking schools and then come to the US to get a college degree. They aren't the same at all as the Jeet in the street. Basically it's the similar to Mexico where the ruling elite have European surnames and are pretty much white.

Wasnt there some fringe political party that rose up to noticeable levels especifically because of the immigrant issue over there in Japan? You'd think they'd take note of that
The wheel of globalism must keep turning I'm afraid. It doesn't matter what people wish for, until they actually get power away from globalists, the maceration of the world into a brown, 75IQ mass will continue unslowed.

Some more info about the program itself.
The Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program is an opportunity for college graduates to assist with international exchange and foreign language education throughout Japan as either Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) or Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs).

Founded by the Japanese government in 1987 to help promote internationalization within rural Japan, JET began with less than 1,000 participants but has grown to become one of the largest cultural exchange programs in the world. Today the program has more than 5,500 current participants and over 70,000 alumni.

JET Program participants travel to Japan as representatives of their home countries and play an integral role in helping to promote grassroots internationalization and understanding. Teaching experience and Japanese language ability are not required and we encourage people of every major and background to apply!

JET is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA); the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology (MEXT); the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MIC), and local governments throughout Japan, in cooperation with the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR).

Ok so they are mindful of people slipping through the cracks and want people who are invested in Japanese culture, to the point where you can at least speak their damn language.

I'd like to be proven wrong and hope that this will work, but I dunno... 😩

I can't understand Indians half the time when they've been living in the US for years. Why in the living fuck would you hire them to teach you English?

After WWII, Japan encouraged learning English by promoting the book "Anne of Green Gables". To this day, there are entire generations of Japanese women who love that book. God only knows what jeet bullshit will be pushed onto Jap students now.

According to a guy who was an actual JET teacher, the guys who are part of the program depend heavily on each other. Things like teaching the newcomers how life in Japan actually is and how to deal with the locals, how to manage their finances, where to buy appliances/furniture, selling things like used cars for pennies on the dollar so that the new guy can establish himself there. Imagine having to depend on the generosity and goodwill of a jeet to make ends meet.

Remember. Most JET teachers are weebs who are straight out of college and don't know anything about living on their own. Jeets will be the end of them
