Modern liberalism is the religion of specialization. Liberals are either A) specialists, people who are good at precisely one thing, and rely upon a society made up of specialists to outsource their needs to -- a designated person to fix their toilet, a designated person to shoot criminals, a dedicated person to run their government, a dedicated person to tell them what to think, a dedicated person to fuck their wife -- and they will accept no less than total conformity to this vision; or more often B) people who are good at precisely zero things, and rely upon a society made up of specialists to outsource their needs to, and they will accept no less than total conformity to this vision. They are people who have backed themselves into a collectivist corner by failing or refusing to diversify their skillset, and thus can only exist as a component of the social superorganism; as a cell in the body. They cannot go against their programming, not because they are not strong enough to stand against it, but because they are not strong enough to stand alone. To reject the lockstep would be to become a cell without a body. Or, more accurately, a cell aligned against the body. Which the body seldom tolerates. They cannot be anything other than authoritarian collectivists, because their survival depends on the collective, and their submission to its authority.

This is not without purpose. It is by organizing the many into one, individuals into collective, organisms into superorganism, that our species has been afforded the ability to pursue genuinely beneficial scientific and technological advancements, along with a sea of other horrid bullshit. Through a network of specialization, an individual is afforded the ability to dedicate literally their entire life to studying particle physics, because they don't need to figure out how to fix a toilet or kill a man or fuck their wife. It is through their sacrificing themselves to the Great Cuck Chair that we benefit. But just like the first multicellular organisms were fucked up flailing amalgam homunculi chimeras that took millions of iterations of mutation and selection to develop into something serendipitous enough to survive, so too are we now witness to the early iterations of superorganisms, and it's going to be more than a lifetime before we see one that does more than flail and flop and fuck up most of the time. Right now, for every one particle physicist the system produces, we get one hundred thousand bloggers and "influencers" and indie video game devs, few of whom will survive when this fledgling superorganism encounters a slightly unfavorable pH patch of primordial goo or gets eaten by another superorganism. But the single-celled generalists will survive, the strong men will make good times, and the cycle will begin again.
