Kids Online Safety Act - Do not think of the children. Think instead why they want to make you think of the children

Am I missing something? The last actions on this bill are a little over a year ago, is there any new movement on it that is not in the bill tracker?
Its picked up enough signatory support to advance over debate procedure in the Senate and the Parliamentary blocks Johnson has put in the house. Unless something is done soon, it will go too a vote this year.

People don't realize how serious this is if this law passes. We already saw what happened in UK and Australia with the Online Safety/Harms however, this is a much more serious problem and more dire threat to the future of the internet.
The US is the backbone to many crucial infrastructure of the internet that powers not just America but even the entire world (yes, even in China and Russia). Almost every major website is located in US. Many of the big tech sites are from America. Heck, even ICANN is American. If this law passed and is now officially US law, the impact it have would be for the whole world, not just within US. Even a VPN would become useless as the changes would become worldwide as American sites make this changes global, not just American users. People don’t understand as to how serious this law would be. End to end encryption and decentralized hosting/platform would be a thing of the past because a law like this would make it risky to operate apps.
And don’t expect the supreme court to strike this law down as constitutional if this passes. The PATRIOT act had persisted for many years and it’s shocking (or perhaps not), that some of the absurd parts of this law are still unchallenged.

Speaker Johnson has been trying to kill it, but he's been unable to tard wrangle the rank and file which are a mix of authoritarian fuckwits and gormless idiots who literally fall for the "think of the children" meme.
I can't believe we have to really rely on Mike Johnson for this. Please Mike, if you kill this bill, I'll take back every bad thing I said about you.

Exactly.

This law cannot be allowed to pass, and if you are reading this and live in Tennessee, you need to tell Marsha Blackburn this in a legal and polite manner.

Literally the guy that took the job because everyone else was too gay and queer to take it. He never planned on being speaker, now he's faced with this. Good lord

Remember, you can tell some tranny fucks that it will "oppress lgbtq youth" and they will probably be against it too
Ironically, you are not wrong.

Just like the payment processor thing, gonna have to make a lot of allies to get this done. Like that other poster said, we gotta get the SOPA band back together again, that means everyone

I mean, isn't Zuck and Meta the biggest company lobbying against KOSA?

Honestly between this, payment processor bs, and SKG, im growing...uncomfortable with how much me and trannies are agreeing. I mean ill take it but still
You know that trash compactor scene in Star Wars? We're the trash. All of us. And we're all getting smashed closer together by the outside forces that be. It's not a good position.

uhhhh, what? it requires 2/3rds, which is 67 votes. and that's cosponsors, which doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna get voted on.
Are you just pretending to be retarded? 72 Senators supporting something means it will pass. It cannot be blocked by debate procedure, and the President himself doesn't even have veto power at that point.

That is what has changed in the last few weeks. Enough Senators have signed on in support of the bill to create a super majority.

I wonder if the messaging to Democrat congressmen should be that the Trump Administration is using this to censor trans youth, or something like that. They'll eat it up.
