The thing that sucks is that major platforms for minors failing or outright refusing to self moderate give the whole “think of the children” crowd a shitload of ammo. Roblox and discord are full of groomers and predators, major twitch personalities do porn and promote gambling sites, YouTube runs highly suggestive if not downright NSFW ads on unrelated content. If there’s money behind this I expect a lot of mainstream reporting in the coming weeks.

The worst part is that this bill won't make kids safe in the slightest. I see nothing in there that does anything of substance. Roblox and Discord will continue to enable pedophilia and child exploitation.

You know what would actually help? If there was a bill that made platforms personally criminally liable* for the actions of pedophiles on their platform. Discord and Roblox would start banning them really quick if that happened.

*Only if they knew. A report sent to them constitutes them knowing about the pedophile. And they can't just not have a report function, they must accept reports of pedophile behavior. Obviously, you are no longer liable if you ban the pedophile permanently. That closes all the loopholes that I've thought of.
