I think you're right, I didn't know for certain if he did QA shit before college or went back and kept doing it after he dropped out. I know the second life shenanigans were before he went back to Blizzard and that's why I assumed dropping out was before anything else.

You can have a rock-bottom IQ and still be a narcissist. Dunning-Kruger effect and all that. Besides, think about it - he already believes (or acts like) he's perfect at everything he does. So why should he put genuine effort into learning something? Since he's already perfect, the only reason he would ever attend college is to collect a worthless degree with which to more easily prove to everybody he's perfect.

Still, I do wonder what psychology research says regarding what happens when a generic narcissist is told they got a question wrong. Does every narc just go "nuh-uh, I know for sure 2+2=5"? Does every narc just cheat after getting frustrated for 5 minutes? Does every narc just act like it was a trick question that nobody ever in a million years could have figured out? The QA skills he acquired were social engineering and phishing. He understands that merely sounding authoritative will bamboozle at least a few individuals, if not a majority of people who saw in Youtube shorts. Just another confidence man peddling his wares to the public at large.

Can confirm. Work in biotech R&D. It's important *MAYBE* for the first 0-3 years post graduation, tops. After that? Literally no one cares. It's more important in academic research, but your alma mater stops making much of a difference quickly after you get yourself established.

For some things its the opposite though. I worked in finance. Everyone I knew from Oxbridge who wanted to get into same position as me pretty much got in, including those with degrees in fine art, history and classics. Had friends who had degrees in economics (much more related obviously) from lesser universities who didn't have a chance. Might just be a UK investment banking thing.
