I have no idea how anyone can sit through a Nicholas Doreo stream. It's so disorganized and he will derail as soon as chat asks him something. Along with the constant donation alerts. The sound clips are funny once but having to hear them 5 time in the span of 2 minutes is annoying.

I cant fucking stand listening to his streams just because of his speech quirks and shit. He needs to pull his mic away or something cause the constant smack of his obese niggerlips is annoying.
When something comes up that interests him and he has to butt in, its always "NO- NONONONONONONONO WAIT...WAITWAITWAIT NOOOOOO....nooonononononoooo..."

I said it before, its all some gay "journalism" LARP. In their heads they're breaking the story that will ruin someone, or make them thousands, and they need to protect it from the others that want to steal it for their own. Frogan hasn't been generating a lot of content lately so it was left in the middle of the video with the "everyone wants to buy creator clash" segment and a "making fun of breadtubers talking about creator clash from 3 years ago" segment.

I’ve been so burnt out on commentary lately. I don’t fault people for streaming instead of making anything interesting, it’s printing money with way less effort. Can’t really get mad at people taking the smarter route. Just wish people still made videos. I’m not even asking for anything as edgy as Bigbunjee, just a solid 15-30 minute video with jokes.

And I know the defense there is “no one watches those”/“I get better numbers on streams” I know. I get it.
It’s like youtube is turning into netflix, where they know you aren’t fully paying attention so they pad the thing that could have been 45 minutes into a 5 hour slog of useless and repeated information. I think most streamers have/will admit that their content is mostly background noise.

I’ll go back and watch episodes of Seinfeld or Arrested Development that I love, I’m not rewatching the 6 hour true crime doc I had on while knitting.

Is anyone going back to rewatch random Chud or Nick streams? I did that for After Hours, but that was because shit happened on After Hours. I think the most memorable things to happen in recent commentary memory were mama max and bowblax, and wow, look at that, it’s topics where people streamed together or made videos.

I know they say that community drama was the shit everyone hated about being in commentary, but it was the most memorable stuff. It’s the things people still reference and look back at.

There’s gotta be some way to make this work? Like making videos occasionally and streaming the research when you do? Idk.

That is true, but I feel like it was better then because everything was shorter. You knew before clicking on the video what they were covering and by the five minute mark you knew the details/sense of what the rest would be like. So if I didn’t like it I would click off. And if I got tired of the daily slop I would just watch non commentary channels and tune in to the actual good high effort 20 minute commentary videos (that got me into commentary in the first place) when they came out every 2-3 weeks. Tune in to After Hours live or watch the VOD when I wanted something funny to listen to while doing something else.

In my opinion the death of video essays /takedowns is what has been hurting the community. Essay channels were incentivized to do the most reputational damage as possible, because it’s what brought in the subs and respect. This also had the affect of constantly creating new drama as the 50th Suzy Lu video just wasn’t worth it to make unlike the 1st Chris Hansen video. But as the goal of commentary became less about respect and more about money the meta changed to slop. Along with get more money for your time, essay videos were high risk high reward (ex: Pyro situation). A bad essay video would completely end your career, while a bad slop video has almost no affect on a creator. It’s a natural shift that happens once people stop doing it for the love of the game and instead for money. I’m too Jewish to morally care about people prioritizing money, but it’s still sucks to see what that mindset has done to the quality of content. Essay videos now are all zero personality sunny v2 clones that make surface level summary videos of old drama who can’t do as much as speaking in a non monotone voice or follow the cardinal rule of crossing their Ts and doting their Is. The worst part about the slop content for me is the repetitiveness. The raping boy has always been a part of commentary, but Jesus fucking Christ we are on month 6 of Ethan and Hasan since the content nuke has released. It probably been a year if you include the skirmishing before it. No one wants to start any drama because it requires to much effort or is to risky. The only channel that is consistently breaking new ground in my opinion is Harmful opinions. There are other creators, like Shamoo with his tectone vids or Nickandros with his Muta videos, that are making new drama, but so far it’s mostly been centered on one person.

After all of the "engineer" talk with muta, I was wondering if nick has something similar. Maybe this is a nothing burger but if anyone has knowledge on deoreo's "real job" it might be interesting to look into. Especially since nick is now going after muta. All these commentary guys lie to look like professionals/ tough guys on the internet. If nick was claiming similar high credentials as muta I wouldnt be surprised.
