Or they can just stop being cowards and take it to the streets. There's no motive to mix agent provocateurs in either.They have legit customer complaints on these lines, shutting them down would be a big self-own.
They could try reorganizing it so that you hit an AI rep first, to attempt to filter out Steam/itch.io complaints, or redirect them to a forever queue. They can remove any menu shortcuts that would skip this process. They could require you to enter your card number, first to verify that you are even a real customer, and then to lock a specific individual out from calling more than 3 times a week or something.
There's a lot they could do to blunt the momentum. The fag portion of the outrage will probably lessen from itch.io gradually bringing 90% of the games back. Even in this thread we have misidentification of delisted games as deleted.
For reference, SOPA only ended when Americans took it to the streets and forced Obama to repeal the thing. Government didn't bother to send people to discredit the protesters, the law was straight up bounced off the wall.
