I think “Fuck this law because the government will use it beyond the bounds of its intention to further curtail the rights of its citizens” is a good argument for not having it. That’s exactly what they’ll do every single time with everything. Do we really think the government is interested in the welfare of children? Half of these people fucked minors on Epstein’s Island. Literally rent a shitty server and host your own shit and then you no longer rely on Discord as a company and no one can do shit to you ever again.

Problem solved.
Discord costs nothing and people bought into it because of that and now there is unsurprisingly a price to pay.

You're not wrong, sure, that's a solution to the problem but what's the expectation here? That a normal person take the time to learn how servers work and how hosting works and integrate chat functions for the team and ect ect? Then leave yourself open to attacks from malicious actors?

There is a certain convenance to using established platforms that saves you the time and aggravation involved with all of that. The irony isn't lost on me that we're on a platform where a person actually did all of that, I think there are certain people who are hardy enough to deal with the headache but that's not even close to a small fraction of our population.

After being banned by numerous servers that are knee-deep in furry culture, I can confirm that furfaggots are notoriously known to be partial to censorship when it's their pozzed PC reign taking over. They even believe it's for the greater good, but when they get censored they LARP as free speech advocates.

They're choosey on when it matters, because their views do not work without censorship and repression. Schadenfreude in spirit, I believe they should be put on coals - I only laugh at them, perhaps they'll take this shit more seriously.

Honestly, were it not for the troonshine messing with autists heads and the fact the (non-corporate) open source community couldn't agree on the color of the sun, I'm 100% certain SS13 would have the capability for this, given the highly autisic predisposition of this playerbase. If there was some kind of leader figure to rally them (practically impossible) you would see the most autistic happenings possible.

I'm 100% convinced if the US goes full porn ban and push comes to shove, the gooner portion of the playerbase will figure out a way to run those servers over I2P/TOR, use modified SimpleX instead of discuck, and take Monero to host them.

Considering the current HUB server of the month is "The Duchy of Scarlet Reach" doesn't ask people to verify their age before engaging in explicit content..
There had been an incident regarding the Host's aversion for age verification. Apparently the Host used to erotically roleplay while being a minor (which isn't surprising). Which culminated in a single round where one person decided to post this.
The Imgur archive is completely scrubbed, but it had logs of the Host confirming that this was true.
(The image is someone using the announcement system in the server in order to post a global message)
