It’s criminal how a lot of PopCap’s best games got improved versions with HD graphics, widescreen, online multiplayer, controller inputs, and new modes… only to make them PS3/360/mobile exclusive.

Fun fact for anyone with a cheap emulation handheld: Bookworm had a great GBA port and Peggle’s console version got a PSP port. And a few games got DS versions.

but what i do hate is having this cold reminder instead

seriously.webp
There's nothing there, you're having an Origin PTSD flashback. My condolences.

PVZ is getting a remaster based on the 7th generation console ports:

I love the associated animation, it feels like something straight from the peak of PVZ in the early 2010s. Needless to say, I'm fucking excited bros.
Saw this leak a week or two ago. It’s using the console versions of the game as the base, which I consider the best versions visuals-wise.

Leaks also said that it offered in game purchases if I remember right; they’re advertising a peashooter skin as a preorder bonus so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true. Either way I’m glad they’re doing something other than more mobile games.

If they aren't including the DS exclusive minigames in this remaster, I'm NGMI.

I don't like that it's just a lazy remaster of the first game instead of something actually new. I get it, PvZ is in the middle of its manchild nostagia wave, but come on. You couldn't make a new game that was actually good and not a microtransaction mess? Had to go the laziest possible route and go after the guaranteed dollars?
Sure, it's better than whatever the modern PvZs are I guess, but I don't wanna reward EA playing it safe and doing a remaster instead of actually extending the PvZ concept into something new and interesting.

For me it was Sprout Games (Iggle Pop, Pizza/Feeding Frenzy) and Raptisoft (Chuzzle, Dynomite). Sprout merged with Popcap around 06 or so and Raptisoft got away and apparently still owns the rights to Chuzzle.
John Raptis is also a libertarian. Make what you will of that.

For me it was both Popcap and Raptisoft hiring Skaven 252 to make their music. Good shit!
