Payment Processor Censorship (Visa / Mastercard / Stripe / PayPal etc) - Discuss Payment Processor/Gateways/Banks censoring people in this thread.

Mastercard is either full of shit or it's a case of one department doing one thing while another is baffled and wondering what the fuck is going on. We won't know because the reasons for kicking someone or some thing off these payment networks are a trade secret.
This is why laws are better than shit like this, even if they do the same evil things. If legislators vote for evil laws, for evil reasons, we still know the language of those laws, and we know who exactly voted for them, and even who wrote them and sponsored them. It's in the legislative history. We can unelect them, or in a more fedposty way, we know who done us wrong. Someone who knows what needs to be done can do it.

These payment processors are bound by no laws at all, nor the Constitution. They simply own the world. They don't have to justify their actions. It's just suddenly *yoink* you can't use money any more lol. Why did you do that to me? Sorry, you don't get to know. Try being better, sweaty.

They get to do what the government wants, while claiming to be private industry, and are bound by no laws or regulations, since no laws or regulations are enforced on them. In return for that immunity, they do the will of the state. The "deep state?" Sure looks like one.

Even under Roman imperial rule, if you had the coinage, you could spend it as you would.

These cocksuckers are doing away with the entire idea of fungible money to push weird, sinister agendas, and we don't even know what those are. They appear to involve raping children, though. That seems to be a pervasive trend.

There will always be a cultural excess that's out of our control under this escape velocity. The neocameralist praxis is here, and people will start walking state to state by their feet. It will refresh the economic territory.

Can alternatives even be built at this point?
In regards to payment processors/networks: Lol, No.

In regards to Steam: Steam holds such a market share that any alternative would have a impossible uphill battle to even reach a fraction of it's popularity. Epic games is probably the only storefront that can be considered a rival to Steam, and even then it only got there by buying exclusives out from under Valve's nose and giving away hundreds of free games. Epic can tank the costs of how they run their storefront, given Fortnite exists, but no way in hell is storefront making money. This is without getting into the issue of trust, both from consumers and publishers, which is another major reason I believe you'll never have a steam competitor. So, in my opinion, no, you can't make a alternative to steam.

I'm not even exactly sure what you said, but maybe I agree with it.

No, bullshit. Epic is still a colossal failure. Gog wrecks it, and it's probably even below itch.

Everyone who buys games buys them on Steam.

Valve has responded to MasterCard's claims.
The reason cited directly to Valve and what is included in their company rules is that anything considered detrimental to the goodwill of the Mastercard brand (it's laughable to think anyone believes that payment processors rely on goodwill for any of their market value) will not be transacted, and anyone who attempts otherwise will be punished. Earlier today, they said on Xitter "Our payment network follows standards based on the rule of law. Put simply, we allow all lawful purchases on our network." Also, this company literally refers to their customers as Marks in their own company rules.

We have never censored anything, anywhere, what are you talking about chud, we never bullied the japanese to fuck with their porn websites, we also did not bully steam to accept our demands, or demanded itch.io to remove NSFW and horror games, you are being a disinformation agent

i don't care i just want the bankers hanged from a tree
We need more of these "huh?" moments.

Payment processors rejected this, and specifically cited Mastercard’s Rule 5.12.7 and risk to the Mastercard brand.
I hate this garbage logic. There is not a single person in the world, regardless of IQ, who would see a rape game full of CSAM on a service like Steam and think, “Wow, this is crazy! I guess I’m going to toss out all of MasterCards now!”

So you're saying we should continue opening our asscheeks for bankers? You might be completely misunderstanding how the economy functions beyond evil.

I am NOT an expert on this subject, just a nerd researcher. I am open to input.
Authentication is verifying that you are who you say you are, and authorization is ensuring that you have the correct permissions to do what you say you want to do. When a modlet logs in he's authenticated as that user, and when he edits my post to fix the thumbnail, the server ensures he's authorized to do that.

Every time I see "So you're saying..." I know I'm about to read the dumbest misinterpretation possible of what was just said.

They are getting dicked up the fucking ass right now. As big as Valve is, and they are, the Payment Processors are tremendously bigger. They HAVE to do what they say. Its not an option. It does not mean they are happy or even agree with this direction the cards are FORCING their company to take. They only implemented Rule 15 because they had a gun to the back of their head. Yes, they are mad.
Valve is actually pretty small even by AAA dev standards. As of 2021, they had 336 employees. Steam is the main reason they have the reach they do. It's amazing that Half-Life 2's DRM became a massive storefront that even sells handheld gaming PCs.

Yeah, it's a stressful world. I'm gonna go take a walk and I kind of suggest many people here to do the same because even I was kind of pulling my hair.

They have money though, and money is power. Steam punches above their physical size. They are not small in any sense. They can put together a hell of a legal team if they desire. Or anything really. They have the capital.
