UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Just a reminder to fellow Britbomgs that if Ofcom are keeping an eye on this website then you can guarantee Special Branch are.

Be careful with you personal details and do not advocate violence. Even with a VPN you will give them a reason to find you, and other jurisdictions will cooperate, if you are threatening violence.

Also, for the love of god, don’t go to any protests and be very suspicious of anyone who is trying to get you to go to one.

We are living in a police state but we are very fortunate that our police are really shit.

Violence is never defensible. I'm talking about serious stuff. Things like making people a brew but putting the milk in with the tea bag and then the hot water.

Only the worst people do that. Literally Hitler and all that.

Oh goddamnit. So to start with, my travel agent had to set me up with an impossible itinerary.

I'm going to the norf, but there was no way I could've made my transfer between my flight to Atlanta and my flight to Manchester. After I missed my flight in Atlanta, the customer service people set me up on a flight to London (where I am now), and I've got a flight to Manchester later today.

I'm tired and hungry and I'm surrounded by British people and Pakis and Europeans and it's weirding me out.

I'm not doing well.
The pendelino train from Euston to Manchester takes about 2 hours. It’s probably quicker and comfier than your wait.

Fuck off. We're full.
I've been coming to Bongland for years now. Spent Christmas here for the past few years, except last year. The norf is nice. Although I can't understand anything anyone says so I'm pretty helpless.

Though I'm walking around Heathrow right now and there's way too many burkas.

Tbf, I haven't been to NYC in a year or so so idk, maybe burkas are the hot item in NYC and I'm just unaware. Still, I can say things aren't this bad in DC.

Feels like Troubles 2.0 is upon you guys
It’s hard to get an accurate picture of what’s going on because our press are nothing but a neo-liberal propaganda machine that oscillates between coping to outright lying.

It’s hard to get a full picture online as there a ton of Russian, Chinese, and Iranian funded “based patriot accounts” coupled with Indians doing the needful for Tommy for a few advert rupees.

I can tell you for someone travelling around this country that we are a tinder keg of a very angry working class who feel forgotten and put upon.

My more middle class and “service sector” friends are in a massive cope. It’s not happening on their door step yet so they are sneering at the proles. They are fucking deluded.

I have a foot in both worlds and I’m terrified for the future. We’re just one major cultural enrichment event from a lot of Minecrafting happening in Minecraft.

I'd just come on to share the article myself, once again that thing that never happens has happened.

These are the vile animals getting put up in 4 star hotels and given pocket money to reward them for entering our country illegally. As nutty as trump can be hes certainly got the right idea with the illegals, meanwhile we've got two-tier kier pretty much inviting them over!

Even worse are the leftys defending these dirty Muslim rapists, I'd seen this in the article I'd read a few minutes before.

Perhaps this libtard could house a few in her spare bedroom, see how safe she feels then!
Ask these libtards at the protests which area they live in.

I bet a penny to a pound it will be nowhere near any migrant hotel.

Of course, and when they end up raped by some paki, they will still defend them, I have seen it play out time and time again. You can murder the children of some people and they will come out and suck off the killer in the name of "not being racist". That lad in America at the track and field meet thing, his dad wanting to get on his knees for the negro who stabbed his son in the heart like a week before. Not to pick on the yanks in this case, just the most recent, you see it plenty in the UK as well.

Need to pummel the Christians as well, they have been sneaking these fuckers in for years and running defense for them.

Just witnessed a big baz type holding a large box with a security tag on it being chased by a brown security guard, Baz ran across the road nearly getting run over while shouting some gibberish I couldn't understand. Got away, I wasn't going to get involved in a busy car park with my under 10 year old son stood next to me. Security guard did put up a good chase, but even if he caught up I saw down the road Baz being joined by another guy and between them it would probably be a beat down for the minimum wage security guard.0

It's all very blackpilling. I explain white Baz is a thieving loser to my son while it seems the Arab is the paragon of right and wrong. We kick out all the brown people we are still going to have a serious problem with all the white scum claiming disability/benefits or just on the rob as a lifestyle choice.

I know it's still likely a minority who do this but it really does make you lose hope in the human race.

All Americans are yankees. And they're fat and wear cowboy hats.
I feel a little naked without my carry Glock...
We're still full. Take some of the browns with you when you go, they'll bleed in better over there with all the mexicans.
No way, your browns are way more annoying.

Ours are at least funny, until they're ruined by dipshit white women with blue hair.

I know it's still likely a minority who do this but it really does make you lose hope in the human race.
The country does feel like it's degenerated massively. The browns are just part of that. We're becoming a poor, third world slum of a nation. The amount of homeless I see just cracked out of their brains in cities, is absurd. Everyone is becoming conditioned to expect a lower standard of living, a lower standard of housing, a lower standard of life. We should not be in a breeding competition with subhumans. Indians and pakis, and niggers will live in mouldy rotting houses, 30 men to a room, and eat boiled rice slop with their bare hands; why? Because they are literally subhuman. You can't try and outdo vermin at being vermin.

There are swathes of the poor and underclass that are just vermin; scum of the fucking earth. Before, they'd get their heads kicked in and everyone turned up their nose and rightly became disgusted by them. Now, since everything is shite, the scum are bleeding out like pus from a gangrene wound. It's just another bit of shit to add to the pile of slime that our country is being turned into.

I also see a sentiment of "Just move out the cities." a lot now. If you're one of those people, if you honestly believe that is the solution, then you are the problem. If your area is nice and you shrug and move on, you are the problem. We have a metastasising cancer eating its way through our country. It's not going to stop in the bowels, it's coming for all of it. So unless you plan to watch your children become slum dwelling degenerates, or blow their heads off in despair. You are in fact impacted by this.

Also stay hopeful my nigger. Could always get worse better!

Labour targets anti-migrant protesters with terrorist tracking software
A Whitehall “disinformation” unit used tools created to hunt for jihadists to find critics of asylum hotels, The Telegraph can reveal.

The secretive team was this week revealed to have flagged “concerning” narratives about migrants to tech platforms during the Southport riots.

The disclosure prompted the Trump administration and US congressmen to warn of a free speech crackdown in Britain.

The Telegraph can now reveal that some of the tools used by the National Security and Online Information Team (NSOIT) were originally developed to hunt terrorists.

In 2017, ministers commissioned Faculty, an AI firm, to help search for recruitment videos posted by Isil.

At the time, use of the technology was strictly limited to stopping British social media users from encountering grisly beheading videos and calls to commit acts of terrorism.

The firm developed tools that could automatically spot Islamic State content spreading online, so it could be flagged to tech companies by the Government.

‘Counter disinformation data platform’

The same firm has since been awarded a £2.3m contract to develop a “counter disinformation data platform” to look for posts that pose a “national security and public safety risk”.

The Telegraph has established that the platform is a direct descendant of the tool used by the UK Government to hunt for terrorists in 2017, although it has since been improved and updated.

A video released by Faculty shows Matt Collins, the current UK deputy National Security Adviser, explaining that the tool was required to prevent the spread of terrorist ideology.

“We had a concerted effort to basically encourage social media companies to do more to remove content which was radicalising individuals to either travel to Syria or to conduct terrorist attacks,” he said.

Faculty is understood to have sold the software to the Government to monitor foreign interference in elections, but has no power to stop it from being used for domestic purposes.

A second firm enlisted to monitor online trends was Global Strategy Network, an intelligence outfit established by Richard Barrett, the former MI6 head of global counter-terrorism.

The company has been used to look for content that could pose a risk to public safety, which includes posts about migrant hotels during the riots.

On Thursday, The Telegraph revealed emails between the NSOIT and TikTok, which showed officials in August last year raising concerns about posts that could incite violence.

They included posts about asylum hotels and reference to “two-tier” policing of protest, which later became a damaging political critique of Sir Keir Starmer’s government.

The revelation that the team was using terrorist-hunting software to monitor posts about immigration policy will raise further concerns about “censorship” of the internet by Labour.

Mr Trump’s State Department said on Friday it was concerned about free speech in Britain, and would “closely monitor” the situation to ensure American companies were not censored.

A delegation of US congressmen met Peter Kyle, the Technology Secretary, this week to make their fears of online censorship known.

Sir Keir is also facing significant backlash to new rules under the Online Safety Act, which require social media companies to verify the age of users to access adult content.

The threat of huge fines for breaching the rules has led to companies censoring harmless material out of an abundance of caution.

Free speech warnings

On Friday X became the first platform to criticise the new rules, warning that “free speech will suffer” if they are not changed.

A spokesman for Big Brother Watch, the civil liberties campaign group, criticised the use of anti-terror software to find opponents of government policy on asylum.

They said: “It is alarming that the Government is aiming social media surveillance technology at law-abiding British citizens.

“The Government should abandon its intrusive and unaccountable monitoring of legal online content and urgently commission an independent review of its so-called ‘disinformation’ units.”

A Government spokesman said: “National security is not only our top priority but also our foremost duty. We will not compromise public safety by letting harmful narratives fester and multiply online, leading to real world harm as we saw in the wake of the horrific Southport attack.

“Put simply, these are widely used analysis tools and we do not use them to track individuals. They monitor trends safely, legally and transparently."

Guys, I think - and here me out here - that the government might hate us? Crazy idea, I know, but their actions as of late seem a bit hostile. Maybe I'm just being a bit paranoid.

Anyway, some whitepill stuff to remind you that, in these trying times, you're not alone.

Honestly once you've got women on board with opposing immigration too in significant numbers it's pretty much in the bag.

These posters always look like they're honeypots to me (thanks Tommy) but having a ton of simultaneous protests is good. And the limited number of paid-for counter-protestors nationwide means they'll only be able to divy out two per hotel: One to hold up a Palestinian flag, and the other to act as emotional support.

I will say though: 6PM would probably guarantee the most number of people since it gives them time to get off work, but if they last until sundown things could get spicy, as angry people in the dark tend to do. We'll see.

Edit: Yvette Cooper unveils fast-track asylum plan to tackle backlog with refugees' appeals heard 'within weeks'
The Home Secretary has unveiled plans to introduce a fast-track scheme to tackle the asylum backlog, with the government aiming to turn around decisions within weeks.

The Home Secretary said Labour was planning a “major overhaul” of the appeal process in the hope it would help to make a significant dent in the numbers in plans revealed late on Saturday.
Ms Cooper revealed further plans to jail people smugglers using social media to promote their services as crowds of anti-immigration protesters clashed with counter protestors outside a hotel believed to house asylum seekers in London and Newcastle on Saturday.
In plans unveiled over the weekend, the government said the new proposals would mean anyone advertising Channel crossings or fake passports on social media could face up to five years behind bars.
“We need a major overhaul of the appeal [process] and that’s what we are going to do in the autumn…" Ms Cooper said.
"If we speed up the decision-making appeal system and also then keep increasing returns, we hope to be able to make quite a big reduction in the overall numbers in the asylum system, because that is the best way to actually restore order and control."

Protests in London on Saturday outside a hotel believed to house asylum seekers saw protestors clash with police, leading to nine arrests.
It comes as the first migrants were led into the four-star Britannia International Hotel in Canary Wharf, east London, on Friday night under cover of darkness.
Ms Cooper's comments, made to The Sunday Times, reveal the government's aim of compressing the appeals process, meaning decisions and returns could happen “within weeks” - citing a source familiar with the plans.
The Government faces pressure to cut how many asylum seekers are housed in hotels while awaiting the outcome of a claim or appeal.
The Home Secretary has previously said she was eager to put a fast-track system for decisions and appeals in place so that people from countries considered safe would not sit in the asylum system for a long time.

“We should be able to take those decisions really fast, be able to take those decisions, make sure that they go through the appeals system really fast and then also make sure they are returned really quickly as well,” she told the Home Affairs committee in June.
“That would mean a fast-track system alongside the main asylum system, I think that would be really important in terms of making sure that the system is fair.
“That will require legislation in order to be able to do that, as well as a new system design.”
The Government is also seeking to reduce the number of Channel crossings.
More than 25,000 migrants have arrived in small boats this year so far.

On Saturday, Yvette Cooper unveiled plans to create a new offence under the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill, which is already going through Parliament.
The move could widen the Bill's scope in a bid to tackle illegal entry to the UK - the latest crackdown attempt by the government.
The offence would also outlaw the promise of illegal working being promoted online and could carry a large fine.
But John Vine, the former chief inspector of borders, told LBC it appeared to be more about optics than real deterrence.
He told Ben Kentish: "They've decided to put an amendment to the bill to make this a specific offence. But actually, in their own press release, they include two examples of police investigations where existing laws have been used.
"One case involved a gang in operating in South Wales, another instance in Preston where somebody ended up with 17 years in prison using existing laws.
"So I think what they're trying to do is a little bit of overkill in terms of lawmaking, perhaps in order to show activity in dealing with something that they know people are very, very concerned about at the moment".

It comes as the Government grapples with a record number of migrants arriving in the UK after crossing the English Channel.
On Wednesday, arrivals passed more than 25,000 for the year so far, a record for this point in the year.
Tensions over asylum hotels have flared up in recent weeks, with a protest and counter-protest taking place on Saturday outside the Thistle City Barbican Hotel in north London, and also in Newcastle.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has pledged to end the use of hotels to house asylum seekers by the end of this Parliament.
Asylum seekers and their families are housed in temporary accommodation if they are waiting for the outcome of a claim or an appeal and have been assessed as not being able to support themselves independently.
They are housed in hotels if there is not enough space in accommodation provided by local authorities or other organisations.

Also, for the love of god, don’t go to any protests and be very suspicious of anyone who is trying to get you to go to one.
I can understand not broadcasting that you are going to a protest to cause trouble, smash things up etc as that is fedposting for sure. But can you really get in any trouble for stating you are going to a protest, just to be there and protest? Bongistan is a police state for sure but even the filth have their limits, you can't be put away for simply attending to add to the numbers. It does seem the recent protests haven't been as aggressive as before as they have more normies attending than violence seekers.

Fedpostalservice is paranoid about the special branch to an extreme degree and believes that anyone actually doing anything constructive rather than complaining, is a police officer trying to get you arrested.

Fedpostalservice is paranoid about the special branch to an extreme degree and believes that anyone actually doing anything constructive rather than complaining, is a police officer trying to get you arrested.
They are also a nigger, who will try to pull the "I know some african ladies, you would not want to mess with them, they work harder than most of the white staff" etc etc that the parasite class likes to use. I think of it as soft countering, "some of us are ok, just the bad ones, remember the i hate niggers chris rock thing?!?!"

The university sector is a bubble and it needs to burst. The lie that you can only be considered "educated" if you have a degree needs to die.
The top college in my city was literally almost 100% non english, they were almost all Indians. The college was less diverse than a fucking kkk meeting. The entry requirements were also fucking retardedly high. There is no way that any of those people were from around here, they were absolutely certainly brought in from elsewhere and given preferential places. Idk last time I checked part of paying council tax and shit was that it would improve the local area and fund local education and yet none of the locals get to use the education because the fucking good colleges are full of people from not around here.
Why are we speeding up the process? Don't fucking speed it up shut it down you retards. Ok yea maybe some of them will be shipped back if they get denied but do you really think the majority will be denied? If they are then what happens to the shit we gave them? Are we taking back the iphones that the taxpayer paid for or do they get to keep those? I don't want faster because faster means more mistakes and more rapists let through the system. I want them to fucking say 'if you show up in this country demanding citizenship you get turned away'. If they do not apply for citizenship before coming here then they get send right back to wherever the fuck they came from. It's just more politician faggotry 'oh we're cutting down on the number of migrants in hotels by increasing the number of sham citizens in hotels'. Either shut it down completely which is obviously preferable or slow it down to the point where they are stuck in what should be effectively a jail, no free movement or ability to leave, locked up 24/7 given the absolute bare minimum, no phone or anything like that, just a couple of the cheapest jumpsuits and whatever slop the government can cook up for the minimum.
