That doesn't excuse them being excessively long. At the end of the day, these are still called essays, and therefore, they need to follow a formal essay format or at the very least be of a reasonable length. I understand that they're not entirely formal, however, youtube only incentivizes length if the viewer actually watches most of it. Additionally, documentaries still have to use the same literary principles as I described.
It's more akin to a multi part documentary in one video. Essays don't have footage for you to watch. A lot of that video was footage. That takes up time. Also, there is a tonne of information here and the guy didn't cover a lot of it, the stuff he did cover he showed information on screen and footage, similar to a presentation, where you need to give the viewer time to digest. Very different to an essay where the reader can go at their own pace.

More watch time = more ads, it's simple as that.

Which sucks ass, I don't want to watch a hyperinflated 6 gorillion hour long video. This is just more proof that money ruins art and writing.
Your brain is fried and nobody wants to hear you complain about it.

I listened to it last night and it's a surprisingly great summary of pretty much every single significant controversy from Dire Maul on, laid out in a digestible timeline. Doesn't even feel its length.

You ignore the fact that the videos I'm talking about in the first place are made excessively long. You uploading it to bypass ads for us doesn't change that issue.

Your issue is not being able to take your meds and spending longer than 5 minutes on a video to decide whether it's worth holding attention for your ADHD riddled brain or not before you remind yourself you have eighteen tabs open and you're late for something.

Well yes, but that's a problem with youtube, You can't blame people who make money from youtube for doing what the platform incentivizes them to do.

You're making an incorrect assumption here and trying to frame my lack of fondness towards several hour long poorly written video essays as a lack of a long attention span. I'm more than capable of and do watch several hour long videos; however, I'm only gonna do that if the person making it knows how to write. The majority of video essays could be shortened to 30-50 minutes by just revising and rewriting.

I've said this before.

If someone were to earnestly distil everything in this thread — just the info, no memes or shit talking — it would be tens of hours long, likely breach YouTube ToS, and put the editor at risk of self harm.

Mald's retardation is deeper than the Mariana trench.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like a video exposé to be shorter and funnier too. But his history spans over nearly two decades and it's horrifying.

Rolling with the punches doesn't really work in the context of the Meat Canyon video when the criticism being dealt is in regards to his insufferable ego and refusal to admit wrong. xQc could laugh at his MC depiction because the criticism of him stealing views was framed through a storytelling device and visual metaphor, what with him being depicted as a gollum like creature hoarding gold and stealing eyes. Aside from the visual of Mald putting his feet in his mouth, there's no pretense of storytelling. The video was directly criticizing him for being smug and refusing to ever say he was wrong. I can see xQc making jokes about sucking people's eyes out and adding it to his collection, I can't see Mald finding anything cute to reference from how HE was depicted to try and lean into.

"Haha, you're so right! I AM incapable of accepting when I'm wrong!" It's an inherent contradiction. Either the MC video is accurate, in which case pretending to agree with it is obviously disingenuous. Or it's not, in which case pretending to agree with it is disingenuous.

I would actually respect him more if he just admitted he doesn't like it. At least that's *honest*.

It is a video that gives full context to all the controversies with explainations of the more esoteric shit for normies and non-gamers to more easily understand the drama. Something of this depth and quality can't really be condensed more than it is.

Stop being a whiny faggot.

They are still at it over in the Maldoverse. Discourse surrounding the Meat Canyon video is still ongoing.

Oh, and I know this is a joke, but still... a bit creepy #notacult.

These 'ladies' in GeneralChat are trying so hard to rationalise MC's vid as being positive for them and the Maldster:

'...an acknowledgement of thors relevance' I'm not even paraphrasing, this is directly quoting the chat.

Guys, the haters are just plain wrong, this is not an attack video, it's just satire.

These people are so consumed with rage over the slightest external criticism, that they have to write this in chat. It's not like they are talking as part of a conversation. These are messages I had to clip between all the normal convos about food, pets, etc.

Over in StreamChat the convo takes a more serious tangent:

I'm not too sure what the red name signifies in the discord, but frog asks if Jason can sue Meat Canyon for defamation.
The Ethan Klein Arc2.webp
Someone mentions that Meat Canyon can technically sue Jason for using his work. That turned around quick! Are they reading this thread? I've seen that mentioned a few pages back.

Frog my main man, stop stirring the poo pot. You'll be found out and banned for being a troll. The Maldists aren't having it and double down on liking the MC vid. After all it has Jason's seal of approval.
