I think it's moreso out of a fatigue with foreign policy than anything else. We've lived through two or three generations of constant involvement in the middle east and have gotten nothing out of it other than more enemies, more dead US soldiers, and more tax money frittered away to bullshit nobody cares about. This goes doubly for Israel, which exacerbates the aforementioned issues because they have a giant boner for random unprovoked attacks on their enemies in an attempt to draw the US into a war that would justify wiping them all out. We've sent them something like 310 billion since they were founded and they have caused us nothing but problems.
