Starship Troopers is a fun action movie, but as a case study of political ideologies or society or the nature of propaganda yadda yadda yadda it's about as shallow as you can get. It was so poorly executed in it's """"satire"""" of fascism that critics of the time unironically thought it was a pro-fascist movie, and the director (who openly admitted that he didn't even read the book he was adapting) had to come out and run damage control in interviews.

You want actual nuance read the novel. It's a bit dry, but it had far more thought put into it.

I listened to some leftists talk about this movie the other day, and they agreed that it completely fails at portraying fascism as a bad thing.
