On the note of the Super Gore Nest level: I finished the master level on Nightmare recently and until this level I tolerated Marauders; now I'm Total Marauder Death's biggest supporter and the fact you can't even use the Crucible on them when stunned is beyond retarded. Did I mention that the Super Gore Nest master level can go fuck itself?

Seriously, the primary criticism of Eternal was always that the way they went about making it more difficult was overengineered, didn't feel like Doom, and just wasn't fun to master. The problem was never the game being too easy.

about right yeah, they wanted you to use the guns in a very specific beat even with prioritization of the old dooms in order to optimally kill a slayer hunter or even enable the damage phase of him in the first place.
unlike old dooms, i can still shoot a pistol on a fucking baron of hell and it will deal damage rather than being ignored, unlike eternal.
sure i can chainsaw somebody or glory kill for the ammo but i still need to follow the gay beat needed to damage or kill certain enemies and that's gay.

NFS Heat is well liked by anyone that has played the old NFSes, that is what i mean with filtered in my message comparing eternal to Heat as most of the people that didn't like heat, weren't fond of the old games and they are gay niggers that more than often admitted to liking the modern nfses where they greatly differ from the formula that the franchise is known for, for example the fags that cockgargle ProStreet where NFS tried to be a more serious gran turismo without realizing gran turismo already exists or worse, the abortions that are Rivals and NFS '15 in which they wanted to ape fast and furious minus the racing part not to mention that time in 2012 where NFS wanted to be burnout that not even undercover "fans" liked but you don't usually mention that game because of the painful memories it brings to some people.

Sigil 1 - Pretty good. way harder than Doom 1 or 2 but should be expected given its a 25 year anniversary map pack, soundtrack rocks.

Sigil 2 - Hard to a fault. I could only complete it on HNTR, which to me signals I can't really give a fair review on it since I couldn't even beat it on normal. Romero's overwhelming insistence on beating the player senseless just isn't for me. Soundtrack didn't pop out as much to me. I hate that final boss fight. If the difficulty/quality of this one is any indication of what Hellion is going to be like that I'm probably not going to enjoy it, I think very few people will enjoy 30-32 maps of Romero constantly grinding you into the dirt beyond even Perfect Hatred. "Not even real"

TNT - Blows and the only good thing to come out of it was like maybe 5 maps and the music. Hearing that this was once going to be free? Yeah I'd feel scammed if I paid money for this back in 1996, even if I played it then I wouldn't think much of it.

Plutonia - I would NOT feel scammed if I paid money for this in 1996 however. Best thing after Doom 2, not much to say besides that its hard and expects you to fight back harder. Give me small bite-sized levels with a tough but fun combat challenge over "exploration" in giant fodder-filled maps any day.

NRFTL - Favorite WAD of mine, when I want to play classic Doom this is what I play. 10/10 pretty much all the way through.

Legacy - Only completed once on HMP. Probably best official WAD outside of NRFTL? Would need to play again to say for certain. Music was good. Some maps were hit or miss, like the secret level with the cyberdemon tower that has a bugged section that I'm pretty sure forces you to WALK not RUN over which is not ideal in that part of the map. Weapons were alright, I love the calamity blade. New enemies were awesome. My biggest hope is that this becomes the new standard for Doom mapping in terms of content. I would be very sad if the only time we see these new enemies is in this one WAD.
 
Eternal will never be a Doom game no matter how much you cope. It is a nu-Doom action platformer with some token FPS elements, it's more of a puzzle game than an FPS if anything since every since combat arena is a combat puzzle and you can't just tackle your opponents however you wish, as it was so elegantly explained already. That's not Doom, that's a speedrunner oriented difficulty mod packaged as a mainline release.

Shitty marvel writing, turret sections, Doom "Slayer"s fucking moonbase, and every other cringy new addition stems from Eternal and will continue going forward, because the core Doom audience isn't what they want. They want (you), the nu-Doom fans, or rather "Doom tourists" who are the maggots feasting on the shit that nu-iD is taking on the franchise before they run it into the ground again. We will probably get another reboot down the line because of this, but that will take years, until then I am going to blame (you) and your Super Mario romhack for what's been done to this franchise. With how much salt my innocent little comment has gotten, maybe I should move away from Bethesda fan circles and move into Doom ones, it seems there is plenty of milk there for the taking if the thin skinned Eternal babies in this thread are indicative of anything.

I really want to play this game. They already convinced me with setting the game in Miami, Vice City is one of my favorite games of all time, but from what I have seen this is pretty much everything I want from a driving game. NFS has so many good titles that it's hard to choose just one or two games to play, but this one is definitely in my top 5 on the backlog. If there is a NFS thread here, I would love to discuss this further there, I've been looking into all the games lately to see which ones I want to play in the near future.

It was going to be free and then at the 11th hour (literally the night before release) Romero reached out and offered to make it a paid bundle with Plutonia. It stirred a bunch of controversy as a result.

Literally, all of this dork's gripes boil down to the asthetics; it can't be too fast because then it becomes tranny speedrun shit. It can't have weapon-enemy specialization because then it becomes a puzzle game. Bringing up archiac /v/ complaints like "you can't just tackle your opponents however you wish", like what the fuck do you mean? You can literally do whatever you want and you will win. Nothing in Eternal's campaign is so difficult that the game "forces" you to play in any way at all. Weapon switching wasn't even "intended," its just tech they left in and added a little loading screen guide along with the first dlc. Any gun kills any thing, like in every doom game. Btw, why does this guy think people switched weapons for in OG doom if not for the game somehow "forcing" them to do it?
