The information on page 2 is not where a signature is supposed to be. It's just asking for the names of everyone involved. You can tell by the shape of the R's that it's probably the writing of the notary herself. Page 1 is the page that requires the signature. If that first signature is Rose's penmanship, she did indeed grant Mike primary or sole custody of Cody.

This doesn't mean she's a bad parent, perhaps she was ignorantly optimistic and thought it could be revised after the 6 months that she said she wanted to try to change Cody's scenery to see if it would help him.

It's also possible that in order for Cody's father to make guardian decisions in another state (ie access to medical care or therapy) he needed to be the primary caregiver (?) I find it extremely odd that Rose would want medical updates from Heather.

Edit: Possible that she was lied to and told that the Martins needed it for [reasons].

Long time lurker, finally joined after witnessing this horror show.

If you haven't already, go read through Nick Monroe's tweets ( https://twitter.com/nickmon1112 ). In one status ( https://twitter.com/nickmon1112/status/856960383684423682 ) he says that according to Rose, the notary was left up to Heather and Mike (if true, she obviously must not have known how it works). Also, in this article he wrote ( https://nickmonroestuff.wordpress.com/2017/04/23/the-down-low-of-daddyofive/ ) he goes very in depth into how the custody arrangement started and how it ended. From reading that, it seems that Rose was very, very naive.

That is an excellent report, I have to agree here. All the people involved were babes who had babies. The only one of the 3 adults who managed to really get an education and also really knows their way around the system is Heather. She has quite the extensive record of legal proceedings both as a plaintiff and defendant.

I highly doubt Rose had anyone to explain things to her, nevermind affording a family lawyer. All it could potentially take is Heather and Mike telling Rose that Mike needs primary custody in order to get some benefits to help Cody (maybe through Heather's insurance?)... maybe even had some sort of verbal agreement in good faith that if Cody didn't get better or wanted to go home, they send him back with her.

Here's where it can get nasty, there is a very serious stigma on mothers who give up primary custody, even if it's in the best interest of the child. That one mistake may have been what gave Mike and Heather the initial foot in the door that they needed to try and forcefully take Emma too.

Unfortunately I don't know how much more info we would be able to get from Rose, because I think she's just as confused about what happened as she was while it was happening. She desperately needs a family lawyer to really go over her case and explain it all to her in plain English, no legalese.

yeah i guess my sin is not being as outraged as everyone else bcs this shit happens everywhere all the time and these people are just dumb enough to film it. i guess i just don't have my PhD in child abuse that now all of a sudden everybody on the trial by internet jury has. what they've done is so obviously wrong that i don't think you get extra points for being more mad at them than the situation really calls for given the abysmally low bar american parenting norms have in most of the working-class country.

EDIT: ok I admit I fucked up with this one. these people are scum and should be ashamed. glad the kids aren't there anymore. i didn't have enough info (because i'm not really interested in this drama) to make an informed judgment about the situation but i was dumb to think that nobody else had enough info either.
