"Girly" Video Games

It's honestly nice to see girls be interested in girl stuff instead of girls be interested in 5000 gender flavors, so I'm really ok with them spending so much on fashion and fashion games.
Me too. Fashion games, such as they are, will train their fashion sense better than neogenders and Caesar-Tumblr noses.

I think we're missing a big part of the discussion of female-aimed games - male on male visual novels and dating Sims. They're massive (and seem super fucking samey) but the interactive platform / visual novel method of delivery has so much potential that it's sad it is often associated with "sinful gay babies" of whatever shit they call it.

I got into VNs when I found this gorgeously illustrated one for At The Mountains Of Madness by HP Lovecraft and promptly ignored it after everything else reccommended was dating fuckery.

A couple I remember from history:

Starfighter - this is a link to the the Kickstarter. It got funded.

Dramatical murder - gay space drama club? Idk.

There are others but yeah - what's the opinions on this stuff?

Does anyone remember those 90's era dress up games that used the KiSS engine?

I downloaded a shitload of files and messed around with different ones. Quality varied wildly but it's a neat little time capsule of 90's animu stuff.

Those were all over the place when I was a wee lass.

I love Nancy Drew games. I think I have played almost every single one with my sister and a couple with my mother. It was basically our girl bonding time.

A "girly" thing I do when I play any video game is that I always play on the easiest difficulty first. Sometimes I like to enjoy myself when learning a game or going through the story. I do not like getting stuck on the first playthrough. I've had people give me shit for it, but I dont' see why it matters for single player games.

Two categories of girly games I really liked when I was younger include:
Pet simulation games (e.g. Nintendogs, the Petz series) where you just devote all your energy to caring for lil virtual animals
Those intricate fashion games where you design all your garments & have a full gamut of demands to meet & the experience is sorta like Project Runway Junior

Also, the Cooking Mama series! They never had much replay value, imo, but I still love those games to bits

But I think the girliest game I've ever loved (that hasn't been previously mentioned) is The Legendary Starfy! Only one of his games has been released in the U.S. because of the whole "Americans hate kawaii" thing.

Does Starfy count as girly? If so, then that means Kirby is girly as well. Which means half the games I own are girly too. Which means...well, I guess Kiwi Farms has yet another transgender.

I do the same thing! I'm playing this shit to relax, not to get frustrated enough to huck a piece of expensive electronics out the window.

I've never played a Harvest Moon game but I have put a lot of time into Stardew Valley which is basically a Harvest Moon fan game. I also enjoy The Sims 2, I always try to make the most dysfunctional households possible.

Dramatical Murder is the one where you bite a dude's dick and fuck the dog. It's hysterical with how fucked up and absurd it gets.

I really like Gamehouse time management games. They are really good for blowing off steam when i've had a long day because you don't really have to put too much thought into playing them. I'm trying to get through Persona 5 right now but I make the game not fun for myself by trying to play perfectly. Sometimes I just need to chill, haha.

The first games I played from them are from the Delicious series of games but now they have branched out with new characters and stories. The gameplay is basically the same though.

I admit that I love me some hidden object games. I subscribe to Big Fish so there's new games available all the time. I really enjoy the Hidden Expedition series, the Mystery Case Files series, and the Myths of the World series.

Yes! I actually love hidden object games. I used to subscribe to Big Fish until I switched to Linux, and losing the games was the only part of the switch I didn't like. Mystery Case Files was my jam, especially Dire Grove and 13th Skull.

As long as there's some effort put into constructing the stories and puzzles, hidden object games can be a lot of fun. It's the same entertainment you get from reading a good mystery novel, IMO.

When I was little I had Barbie Beauty Boutique (or it was called something like that)

I'd play that shit for hours

Also I love Harvest Moon, and also Rune Factory (which if you haven't heard of it is Harvest Moon but you can fight monsters and shit, it's great). Ditto for Animal Crossing. I just like being able to relax and play something cute sometimes.

And I'm also one of the people who downloads mods for the Elder Scrolls and Fallout to make my girl look pretty. My first modding experience was when I was like 11, trying to make that shit work. Good memories.

It's also not quite girly, but I play Final Fantasy XIV, and I love being a little Lalafellan and making cute clothes for her to wear, and having cute little haircuts. Some armor, especially the war classes, make her look like a little slut toddler, but a lot of it is really cute looking.
