I did find a very small youtube channel calling him out that was posted late last year. i posted it a few ages back

since I'm lazy and don't want to go look through this thread for it heres a Do5 related video instead

No one I knew was ever aware it existed! It was catering to some really bizarre, detached sub culture of what seemed like semi literate feral children *and feeble minded adults. It's hard to find these things when there is no apparent overlap of communities. 700k subscribers and no one really knew!

I don't think it's fair to assume people just didn't care until Phil said something. It's hard to get the word out when you don't have much reach but it was slowly spreading by the time Phil got a hold of it.

Even on the Nerd City video ^^ he admits he didn't want to anything to do with it at first and that apparently H3H3 didn't want to touch it either. People have been hounding idubbbz to take it on and he didn't touch it. Reddit was all over this from almost jump. Those are just a few examples. There have been people crying out about this channel for months and months and they were getting no attention. I don't doubt most people didn't know about these creeps, I sure didn't. It obviously caters to the immature and the brain damaged. But it was brought to the attention of a few of the bigger YouTubers who apparently did not want anything to do with it and as soon as DeFranco puts his video out and opened the gates, these other channels decided it was now okay to join in. Fair or not, that is what happened.

Just because there wasn't a lot of people making youtube videos about it or inciting public outrage online, doesn't mean they didn't report it. "Not wanting to touch it" isn't the same as not caring or doing nothing. There was probably much more going on behind the scenes before it all blew up.

Added: Personally, I wouldn't want to draw more public attention to those kids. However if I saw nothing was being done after reporting it to authorities and waiting a while, I would then consider making a public stink. I think most rational people would do the same. It would have been much better to have dealt with this in a way that didn't expose the kids to a far wider audience, but it was looking like the authorities weren't really moving on it, because "corporal punishment" is allowed in MD.
