Most of the KKKlub focus only on the visuals. Gameplay is the afterthought for them because they are clueless on how the gameplay works. Arlene and BridgeBurner are the perfect example of that.
I find that rather ironic because I seem to recall that Doomworld made fun of those exact kinds of maps nearly 16 years ago with Tormentor667's detail guide being given the Worst Wad in Cacowards 2009.

Strange, even the most basic maps usually get some youtube gameplay videos shared in the thread, but not this one, a week after it was posted? Considering it's from the author of one of the most overrated pieces of crap from last year, Formless Mother, i'm just going to assume this wad consists of gigantic, slow ass, grindy, shitty, slaughter maps... you know, the usual.

Large, overdetailed maps =/= better. It's a slog to go through them, especially with lag on top of it.
Don't know if I could judge - but I personally see the "scenery" as a backdrop for the action, or somehow incorportated into the gameplay process. Like details on a facade of the big buildings which serves as the main walking ground, or rock formations with trees and other decorations placed up high and out of reach. It's doable and greatly improves one's map's playthrough experience - but DW mappers are currently trying to make maps look good on the automap, so I think it'll be some time until they sober up again.

Good find. I completely forgot about this. It's very ironic and these idiots used to make fun of the modern games with realistic and beautiful graphics at the time as well, making sure to tell you in the face how Doom is a better game because gameplay is the focus on it, not the graphics, to which admittedly, I agree..... except..

...fast fowards to now, every troon and fag want attention, so they copy Bridge, Ribbiks or any other author with over-detailing obsession, like architecture, unique lighting effects using voodoo-doll and other stuff.

I guess Scuba Steve just accepted the fact that this is a norm now. Look, times change, I get it but if Troonworld had just a bit of fairness to them, they could've included some traditional wads in the Cacowards and promote them that way. Variety is good and a person who dislikes troon slop, could find a Cacoward winner and enjoy it, let's say.

Still, it will get an award, for sure. Though the person doesn't have pronouns written on their bio, so it probably isn't a tranny.....probably.

I get ya. Details are great if they don't hinder the gameplay or if author puts equal amount of time in the gameplay part, balancing/polishing, so the wad can be eye-candy and yet fun to play.

You could say that again. No good map I ever played put emphasis on automap layout in this way. Some sector art is usually used for decorative flourishes, or trivial things like secrets and maybe credits areas in super-secret maps. The beauty of the map, both gameplay and aesthetics, should be visible while playing it, and not staring at lines.

A personal example, just to give my words more foundation:

Same are in-game. Has an aesthetic, right? Even though it's map lines are not autistically measured to create specific pattern or something.

They did. It's just kind of hidden and they pretend the levels weren't changed at all, instead they say they were "restored".

On another note:

How would Troonworld react if Xaser and his tranny buddies at Nightdive added an AI-based map generator to one of their remasters? Realistically that's not going to happen any time soon, but if it did.

Seems Nightdive's System Shock already features support for AI-based upscaling, tsk tsk. AI bad.

Sure there are limited generators like OBLIGE, but usually these were easily identifiable, in how they built ugly nonsense. A true AI mapper will be a disaster.

This has already happened, in a sense. MAP03 of Community Chest 2 - SLIGE control; except it was a mapper adding detail to an AI's map.

What's with the sky texture? I see these out of place green blobs. They should've made that texture with the palette in mind (if they did they failed). That aside the map looks very plain and ugly.
 
There were a few people (me included), celebrating the Ttroonworld ban, as we believed it (and still do) to be the best thing to happen to the DBPs. You know..., independence and all. But 40oz couldn't keep his mouth shut, he had to validate the ban and become Troonworld's bitch once again for the amusement of the KKKlub. Like, fuck, i wish the guy well, but my god, what does it take to finally give these faggots the middle finger? Fucking wake up already, and stop embarrassing yourself!

40 can map and give critique well, but his ideology clouds his mind each time he enters a discussion. I remember DB felt the best when he had a hiatus, because there were no threads with his libshit textwalls. He came back, and afterwards all the retardation which eventually lead us to him creating "Dumbworld" and doubling down on bowing to DW.

He built his forum on the fact of detraction of DW, why does he think those fanatics will ever "accept" him again?

That MFG guy is on something. For a second public map, from thread OP, it looks great. It's probably not his second map ever (As in, not the second one he made) but congrats to him on finally publishing something, I'd give it a try.

Although one complaint right away - he used OTEX.
