Was going to post this in the furries topic, then I saw that this guy had a link to his Deviantart on his FA page, and something tells me this belongs here. Even setting aside the creepy themes of most of his works, something about this guy's stuff is just especially creepy. It might be the fact that all his characters speak in constant all-caps, partially.
Oh, btw if his FA is correct the guy's 53 years old.
I know it's a bit dated at this point, but that guy rustled me on a deep level. A persnickety remark just didn't cover it.
The criticisms he talks about in his obligatory "You can't bring me down, Trolls!" here are my feelings on them.
It's not the fact that he is making them overweight to begin with, nothing is wrong with that. It's his
obsession with making characters overweight, even if they are not so in the source material.
It is not the fact that he wants to depict warm moments between fathers and sons. It's his
obsession with doing so. In the
exact same way. Image after image of lap-sits accompanied by identical messages.
Leading to the main reason that his work creeps me out. I think it is indicative of something in this guys head. I think
something happened to him at some point in his life. It may have been extreme, it may have been as simple as bullying and a disinterested father. But there must be
some reason he needs to reaffirm these ideas over and over and over again.
It's the lack of variety that makes it so creepy to me. Displaying tenderness between father and son is not some taboo, but for fucks sake man, maybe just show them quietly fishing together as the sun sets or some shit.
I mean, even when he branches out of *Son figure sitting on father figures knee* "Son figure, I love you no matter what anybody says, now eat this cake because I have no problem with the fact that you are chubby." he'll always bloody well pull it back to that exact same motif. "Heh! Yeah, I work out little bro, because how better to show you that I love you no matter what anybody says and feed you cake because I have no problem with the fact that you are chubby, than by having big muscular arms?" "No matter what that WBC preacher told you, you need to know that God loves you no matter what anybody says and will feed you cake in heaven because God has no problem with the fact that you are chubby."
It shatters any personality. His characters, they aren't people. They are Robots whose primary objective is to recite the same message in any and every situation.
The vibe I get from him isn't malicious. It's damaged, it's pitiful.
The only thing that really
creeps me out is the fact that the dress and mannerisms are all about half a century out of date.
