Tldw: Record labels pay Spotify to put their shitty music in popular playlists. There is no real conspiracy, not even allegedly, since it's literally a baked in feature into the App. Also some history lesson on how the practice was illegal with radio companies (ironically at the time music wasn't universally dogshit).

Again it's whiny bitch mode that I attribute to the writers rather than Wendigoon.

Weirdest point is comparing it to a supposedly better YouTube, despite YouTube being filled with forcibly pushed MSM/nepo babies that use bots to inflate subscriber count and push videos in the algorithm. It's my main issue with the video, that things are so broken that even the acts of bribing the company is no longer necessary, so who gives a shit?

Also because I'm an old person I was reminded of the time Apple force uploaded a U2(?) album into all their devices. Also also there is a funny story of Wendigoon being haunted by Afro Circus song.

I hadn't paid attention to U2 before then, but Songs of Innocence was enough to turn me off to them forever. Undeleteable whiny baby music with lyrics that a Reddit user might consider deep.

I actually am lol. I re-watched the MHE creepcast last week and I liked it even more the second time through. Undoubtedly my favorite good-good episode. First time through I wasn't sure about the author's notes that a few of the chapters consisted of but second time around I thought they were awesome

The 'Companion Twelve' thing in the author's notes made me laugh. I think Companion Twelve was setting up for a Judas allegory/tangent (he's always listed as the last of the twelve disciples no matter which version of the bible you read while there's minor variations in the presentation of the others) that the author decided to scrap because it would have made the story too long and he wanted to end with 100 chapters
 
Mother Horse Eyes was legit good, and really from that perfect era of Internet creepypastas and, damn I don't know what to call it, "scattered storytelling" where dudes would just post bits and pieces of their story all over the place because for better or worse moderation was more loose back then.
If someone was trying to post their alt-universe creepypasta all over Reddit today, hell naw that would get deleted ASAP. Even here on Kiwifarms I doubt mods would allow that type of art project.
It was a very 2010s type of thing.

There is some good story telling and imagery in it and some great horror concepts, but I think the girl powuh diversion toward the end was meh and I felt like the author missed ball on the ending. I'd give it a 8/10 for an internet creepy pasta, 6/10 overall.

It's 100 parts, vs a lot of the longer stories that they cover being 3-4 parts, so every 10-20 minutes you're at a solid stopping point because it flips between a handful of different narratives so it's not like you're in the middle of one long thing and have to stop in the middle of it. It only towards the end, maybe the last 10 parts, that you probably won't want to pause because two of the stories start talking to each other, basically

Which would be a surprise if the RON video wasn't four hours long. Perfect background noise for a day of being home.

But that aside, he might actually hit the seven-hour goal soon. Like that Who Is Lila video by Flawed Peacock.


The rendering time on this must have been insane.

While listening I remembered why I disliked MHE. It's just pure Reddit bait, taking nearly every popular topic and presenting those in ways that are just edgy to illicit a response but not enough to be actually be offensive.

It's just so fake.

I think it's a passable story, especially for its time. Not something that'd get published commercially, but if it'd been ten years earlier it could have stood up to other long-form amateur serial novels, like JDATE and She Hates My Futon (not horror).

MHE isn't even an ARG, just an easy scavenger hunt, but I think it's that ARG-feeling that makes its fans like it more. Nobody had to break a code or do math to find all the pieces, but it's not all in one chunk.

Posting installments in random subreddits is the amateur literary equivalent of making a chimp forage simulator.

Trying to listen to the MHE Creep Cast does nothing for me. IDK, I think them going over it with pauses just allows my brain to go "Okay done with story" and I am not paying attention when they pick back up.

I'm going to actually read it on my own and develop an opinion then go back to the Creep Cast video and then Wendi's video if I come through not hating it (or if I do and I need to kill time)
 
High hopes for a good episode regardless of the story. Apparently this was immediately after Wendi stayed up until 7:00AM recording his MHE video and Meat is exhausted as well for whatever reason. They're like five paragraphs in and making terrible name jokes about random words and losing their shit. Bodes well for an 'Eat me like a bug' breakdown at some point
