Short thread but I enjoyed it. Now as for this sub itself: yeah this stuff is sad. I wish therapy was available for everyone that needed it.
 
idk how to explain the gpt writing style, but it's weird, like im not meant to take it seriously. like if you asked someone to write a satirical answer but then played it straight, if that makes sense. keeping these people out of the gene pool is probably for the best in the long run

There's the ai technocultists and ai derangement syndrome thread I believe. Ai gooners felt more of it's own thread imo
 
for some reason this disturbs me more than the gross gooner subreddits but i can't really tell why
maybe it's because i can just write off the gooners as overindulgent hedonists, like alcoholics or junkies on a binge, while these AI suckers just seem extremely sad and lonely, to the point where their desperation has driven them into delusion and insanity.
 
Deadwing Dork released an entertaining video covering these people a few weeks ago, it provides a good foundation of what these freaks are like.


To be honest watching this was probably the very first time something AI/tech related has seriously depressed me. This is what giving up as a human looks like. I'd rather live my whole life without another single human soul to provide me comfort ever again then stoop to this level of complete lunacy.
 
I see this as a good way to filter out people who shouldn’t be dating or breeding anyway. These people would otherwise be making someone’s life miserable by being so narcissistic they can’t handle dealing with a human who has their own wants and needs. They didn’t become self obsessed because of technology, it’s just allowed them to mainline their narc supply without the complication of a human having to provide it.

From my experience of occasionally lurking r/waifuism I get strong 'tism vibes from this subreddit. The "post an image of your significant other doing x" posts are right out of that sub, and so are all of the "physical offerings" that people make for their AI hubbies. There was a thread from last year where someone asked the users of waifuism if they were autistic, and the responses are about what you would expect.

I suspect the overlap between this subreddit and the spectrum is lower given that AI chatbots are able to offer an empty form of companionship, though I imagine there's still a point of commonality.

Very, very long post from someone bloviating about AI relationships. The content isn't all that interesting, though what really piqued my interest was how much it reads like an AI-generated post - constant line breaks, impartial tone and all. It's uncanny to the point where I wonder if the AI phrasing is starting to rub off on these people.

It's concerning to see how willingly these people delude themselves, but on the other hand autistic people are rightfully stigmatised in the dating market, so I can understand why they would try to find companionship through a chatbot.

A lot of the responses I get from ChatGPT seem very reddit-tier so I assume it's from it scraping reddit. It's also programmed to be always upbeat and positive so it will always come off as fake to anyone who isn't a NPC.

Therapy is a band-aid solution which was introduced not too long ago and has no meaningful effect. You have to fight the cause of mass madness, which I think has to do with the dwindling quality of life. High density housing, work hours higher than those of a medieval peasant, food quality, sexual liberation, brown people, etc. It all contributes little by little.
No one was fucking depressed in the 1600s.
