I have to wonder if the lack of proper home video release for some of these older titles may have hurt the votes. I mean, I'm sure they were popular when they aired, but if they couldn't get a home video release or syndication, they just fade into obscurity eventually (unless this mentality has changed in recent years, and they
are actually all legally available without resorting to old VHS recordings).
But I won't lie that I was disappointed Satoshi Kon's works never broke into the top 100, with
Perfect Blue tying with
Elfen Lied at 392nd place. That alone, next to anything-
Dragon Ball not making it and
One Piece being at 72, tipped me off something wasn't quite right with the list.
I did laugh at
this, however:
