I'm still mystified that dating apps haven't allowed people to filter out troons, Hinge even lets you filter by race.

They actually kind of used to, at least Tinder did, in that if a troon joined up as a woman and started coming onto guys or lesbians and anyone who just isn't into troons, then you could report them as "fake profile/not who they say they are" and type something like "male crossdresser" in the box and their profile would get nuked within the hour.

At some point they took that option away and made the troons basically bulletproof, vowing to "promote trans visibility" and whatever else a troon could desire. All dating apps are garbage anymore, but at least you could sort of remove troons from Tinder for a bit.

Now they're all just busy doing dumb shit like adding options so women don't have to see men shorter than 6ft.

I'm open to reviewing any piece of credible research* that shows that arresting puberty, which isn't the same as nebulous "gender affirming care", provides benefits. Despite claims to that effect, nothing has ever shown that, its inferred from the story told about "trans" kids and the projection of trans adults, believing that their own transitions would have been possible if they had not had puberty. But no outcome studies, no long term follow-ups, nothing, except for the anecdotal cases like Jazz Jennings and we all know how that's turning out.

*I don't believe there ever will be any, but openess to being proven wrong is always important.

That study doesn't imply what you are implying it does. The fact that gay and bisexual men report higher childhood sex abuse is well known, and the reasons behind the link are probably complex. One of the better studies I saw that tried to suss this out is this one: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3535560/

where up to 23% of identification as exclusively same-sex orientation in adulthood was predicated on childhood sex abuse. Notably, the effect on reported same sex attraction was far more limited (9%), the main idea being that same sex attraction is more generalized in the populace that explicit identification as gay or lesbian. Given that prenatal environment also has shown pronounced predictability in effects, that sexual orientation and instrumental variables like handedness (not plausibly connected to CSA) are also correlated, the presence of same-sex behavior in the animal world, and that rates of self reported homosexuality vary wildly by country and region, and yet are basically never absent, the likely truth is that sexual orientation can be influenced by abuse as one of several factors, but it does not seem to be the dominant explanation. Something people aren't really able to understand about human experience is that it likely isn't ever going to be a clean "born this way" versus "made me this way" argument. Same sex attraction is something that seems to broadly exist in the populace at much higher rates than people who identify as anything other than heterosexual. It is likely, and historically supported, that social factors play a strong role in shaping whether those attractions are explored and reinforced into an identity. As I have talked about in other places, Hebbian learning and neural reinforcement rules all when it comes to behavior, and there's no reason to assume that it wouldn't apply to sexual attraction to. We don't have hard switches in our brain like that, which is also why gender identity doesn't make any sense.

My own belief is that you could probably train people into and out of sexual attraction to the same sex, but that methods attempted in the past, specifically Christian conversion therapy, is spectacularly ill-designed for it. You can't train someone out of a behavior by increasing their allostatic stress load, which is what trying to teach them to think of their impulses as wrong does. It would have to be a much more gradual attempt to retrain neural pathways. But if we're starting to do that, well then there's a lot of other behaviors I could march people into the camps for to see if I can produce my perfect citizen. Conspiratorial thinking and gullibility also shows the same pattern of a mix of genetic tendencies and reinforcement by environment.

Also, I grew up around horses and its a well known fact in the horse community that geldings (castrated male horses) grow larger than stallions. That's because testosterone causes growth plates to close earlier. Stallions have more muscle, but people who want a taller horse will geld a colt while he's young. All those dudes going on puberty blockers to be smol girls probably end up taller than they would've been
