If you don't challenge speech you dislike, you present no reason why it should be stopped, and by trying to stop it without specifying why it's bad except for calling it "hate speech", you will only make people wonder "well, why is it hate speech?".

Granted, some hate speech is very obvious, but I'd rather the people who spew hate reveal themselves for the hateful bigots they are and thus be discredited as opposed to trying to violently silence them and only making them look like the underdog even if they are bigots, simply because they have an opinion and you'd rather see them beaten to a pulp for having it then letting them have their say like anyone else.

Even if she's personally being disingenuous, open debate gets information into the hands of many other people. "Educate yourself" has always struck me as a particularly stupid position for people who are trying to influence a narrative to adopt. People attempting to "educate" themselves may well stumble upon the "wrong" sources and move from sympathetic or neutral to hostile towards you.
