It's because they got this fetish "respect" towards those of the darker-skinned variety while ignoring those of lighter skin. The issue is that they're almost indistinguishable from actual black people in their pictures it isn't even funny.

More along the lines of making both characters three times fatter than they canonly are alongside turning Layton Black. They do this with Luke and Flora as well.

They used to draw the characters fairly canonly, but progressively evolved to making the characters obese and darker like most sjw tier artists seem to do.

Once upon a time they claimed that the progressive darkening of the skin was for representation purposes, but they nuked the blog that originally stated as such. Not sure what caused them to go in the direction of "Everyone is 300 lbs now".

That, or the fact that southern India is generally much richer than northern India, so these privileged types will only encounter people from southern cities. Excluding Delhi, the Gangetic plain is still destitute even today, and there is massive internal migration from the north to the south. The gap between Bihar and Kerala is huge.
