Think of it this way: the game came out in 1993. When the community was fresh, it was competitive nerds with fast reflexes who would also have the know how to post on the ye old internet. Chicks weren't as common then, and women can have fast reflexes... but men sadly usually edge them out. It's just how we evolved. So how many chicks who did go on the net in 1994 stuck around enjoying the community of male trash talkers? I'm sure a few did under assumed male names, but I think there were probably more who just enjoyed the campagins on their own. Go home, boot up Doom on a normal difficulty, blow off some steam and make progress, close Doom and get back to life and doing whatever, like how modern women treat mobile games.

friend of mine (a dude) is more into the fandom than I am since i just play the games and move on. I already knew about how there is crossover between the homestuck fandom and Undertale so no thank you lol I ain't about to really deal with them. However he does show me some stupid shit they say and it's about what you expect. I would argue if they actually played the games at all but these aren't hard games however you can catch plenty of them getting into slapfights over the gender of characters like Kris and such.
While Sims 4 obviously has a lot of women players, I bet it has much higher proportion of troons than Sims 1-3.
