I feel Talk To Staff is a bit too stuffy for some people feeling comfortable asking small or simple questions to moderators, and I also believe there could be some more levity between staff and users.
Try to avoid using this to interrogate about moderation decisions, like "Why was I banned?" since that's something that genuinely should be handled in Talk To Staff. Threads posted there will be treated with more urgency and seriousness. Generally.
Use this thread to ask us questions, serious or not, and we'll answer them accordingly to whimsy.
I guess it's not really a secret, but that AnimeSucksCopeAndSeethe guy. I know there's some other stuff about him and a thread on everything, but he was generally the most unpleasant user because he kept trying to be friends with us despite us making it clear we weren't interested. I don't know if he got the message or not, but he basically began being more aggressively friendly like we were building some actual rapport.
Anyone else of note is either banned for doing something stupid or just an actual lolcow with a thread here already.
There is an ex-mod I hate. Kamov Ka-52. He made up arbitrary "rules" about how to post in lolcow threads, like never addressing them directly. For instance, if you said "Kevin Gibes, are you seriously spending $500 on Transformer toys instead of food?" he would ban you. I got a warning for it, and he banned actual helpful and contributive posters to multiple threads for it, including the writer of the actual thread one time. There were worse mods, but he was the one who directly affected me and other users I knew.
I don't care too much about the first impression people have of moderators. I'm aware it's generally negative. I try to navigate things cautiously when speaking to users because I know there's an assumption of discipline or ill intent when a moderator speaks to a user.
If a chicken and a half can lay an egg in a day and a half. How long does it take a grasshopper with a wooden leg to kick all the seeds out of a dill pickle?
Why, @Trombonista of course. She merges all the double posts I ignore, but in return she ignores all the messages I leave for her in the moderators notes when I say I don't want to do it.
