Honestly, the biggest complicating factors are Aaron is a male, and Aaron is a dick. If either of those facts were different, I doubt this would have dragged on this long.

I’m beginning to think the sunglasses aren’t just an aesthetic choice, they’re an unintentional, subconscious expression of Jung’s concept of the persona, the “mask” one wears to face the world.
When Nick puts them on, he’s being a performative faggot, but its to hide the pain in his eyes.
He slips into the trickster archetype, a all-mocking flair against the world, a kind of shitty discount Arsène Lupin cosplay.

Behind the shades, he can posture, lie, and manipulate while feeling protected from the moral and emotional feedback of his own face.
The sunglasses are who he wants to be. Capturing, shiny, reflective. The rays of the hater simply bounce away its mirror-like lenses.
But the dull, gaunt eyes beneath, old and suffering with exhaustion and regret, are the real Nick. The mask is polished; the man behind it is crumbling.

tl;dr - Nick wants to be Joker from Persona 5 and do the Valentines Haram route, but isn't cool, righteous and has brain damage.

But I tend to agree with your conclusion that it's just his new look/persona. It's funny and weird that he wanted to look COOL and VILLANOUS in the court room but only when the judge wasn't in there.

Took a look over on Locals. I didn't even realize - they're talking about violating Aaron for people in his live chat avoiding the word filter. They were having to misspell Kayla or build K towers. And that's the only message anywhere about today.

This is why I find myself rooting for Aaron despite his show being awful. They thought Aaron was another Stuttering John who they could abuse in perpetuity. But here we are.

No matter how much you might dislike Aaron, though, StutJo never fucked Karl's wife or spilled tea that damaged the Dabbleverse. But Aaron did. No StutJo ally ever called into a stream and made one of them melt down. StutJo never caused these low effort faggots regroup and seethe the way they have with Aaron.

Nick has been knocked down by *A LOT* of pegs in the past 3 years, but he still has a fuckton of resources, clout, and an army of bottom-rung cloutchasers willing to bend over for his attention. They are all haplessly trying to knock down this middling podcaster armed with nothing but a stack of legal papers and a box of crayons, yet all they have to show for it is an 8 day run in the pokey. Looks like he's in this jacket - which is textured in some way and has red thread highlights. I've always interpreted it as being snakeskin patterned. Very demure! He doesn't know where a tie is supposed to sit but otherwise, we've seen considerably worse fits from him. And that one is a lot closer to being court appropriate than his last one.

It's definitely more Michael Scott than Hunter S Thompson though.
