to be honest at this point everything should just be in one radnom chris updates thread. there just seems to be arbritrary ideas on what is or isn't threadwrothy chris updates. @Karen Riley closed a thread for a large post chris made that would have been it's own thread at some point in time. why? because some one else dumped the content in a containment thread? it should have been broken off by the moderators.

I don't know Cat, I mean I'd assume discussion about the post was kept in the thread on his new comic pages because it was an explanation of one of the most puzzling aspects of the new pages.

The post was also discussed in some detail under the random updates thread as well so to me, by this stage it had already been discussed enough that a thread on it now seems unnecessary, do you know where I'm coming from?

I don't want the subforum to become one big random updates thread, you know I spend most of my time on Disco and I understand that reading the mega thread can be unappealing, I just felt like locking it would fall in line with site policy.

I'll unlock the thread now, with the caveat that I can't control the actions and opinions of mods who might agree with my original reasoning.

thats the problem. content just gets buried in containment threads. would maybe an update gallery be the best option? an easy way to scroll through chris content without reading the same posts over and over?

the random chris updates thread was originally for shit like likes, favorites, retweets, etc. anything on its own "significant" should be a thread.

I know @Feline Darkmage was working on an updates subforum, but it's hidden from normal view without a link and also really far behind on content, last time I checked. I like the idea, but it need work. Maybe we can get other mods to help with it.

Nobody reads subforums. Disco had an updates subforum long ago that got no attention whatsoever and ended up being totally redundant because anything of interest was immediately posted to the main forum anyway.

Yeah, but an updates forum and Disco serve two different purposes, so you can't really compare them. Disco is for the actual discussion on Chris, of course it's gonna get all the eyeballs. An updates board wouldn't get as much traffic, but that's not what it's meant for. It's meant to make it easy to find content later on. I think it'd be invaluable, given that content often gets buried in megathreads and containment threads I can't be bothered to read because 90% of the posts are autistic as fuck.

The CWCki still gets regular front-page updates of most of what Chris posts to social media, even stuff that usually gets folded into the megathreads here. That might be a better place for minor Chris 'news' than an updates subforum anyway.

I'm guessing that this chris update was merged with random updates because @The American Hedgehog had already deemed it random? https://kiwifarms.net/threads/random-chris-updates.23605/page-215#post-2377329
According to the criteria set out by null it should be broken into a thread. Only likes or retweets or YouTube likes are random. If Chris is spouting off that he is talking to his clone from another dimension it is threadworthy

I don't know if that's enough content for its own thread. I guess since you reposted anyway, we'll find out.

The Random thread does have a lot of short commentary posts like that. I think now that Chris is using Twitter regularly, the scope of the Random thread should be expanded to include short posts that don't really reveal much new info. Otherwise, the main board would be cluttered with small updates (which people have complained about back when he rediscovered Twitter).

Anything new that Chris does should get its own thread IMO. If it's not that important/interesting relative to other stuff it will fall off the front page. Let the process work.

The problem with using anything new as a metric is that a lot of content is very brief.

For example. these are some of CWC's messages from yesterday:

Should each of those have a thread for being new content, instead of being in Random Updates?

Chris used to go weeks at a time without saying a word. Then when God pushed the unmute button on him, anything that came out of his mouth was considered gold. Take that rather huffy "I Am a Girl." exchange with the w33n. In 2016 we would have salivated over that pic, now it's just A-log bait.

The CWC forum, and any other, ought to look neat and tidy, like every other forum, to attract new members trying to navigate this labyrinth of :autism:

no you do not highlight weens or waterman. they are not chris content. this is why we made the donation general thread because you didn't want people thinking their dumb jokes were worthy of discussion.

That's a good point. Even though each of those posts is pretty noteworthy in itself (confirmation of ongoing Love Quest, claim of "silent agreement" with Sega), it is several in one day. How many posts does he make per day, on average?

Maybe if the threads could be done kind of like the pages about Chris' mailbag on the CWCki. Like a daily digest.

I see your point. How about stuff like this, that don't involve fools?

I had asked staff to split those into threads, but they refused on the grounds that Chris's commentary was too limited. I was going by that when I attempted to merge your thread into Random the other day.

Sometimes none, sometimes 5 or so.

Like mini versions of the Random Updates thread?
