The funniest thing about all that is that they solved the rollspam problem in DS2 in a much better way, and that was making rolls actually cost non-negligible stamina and making repeat rolls cost increasingly more stamina. ER probably wouldn't work as well with just that, but having repeat rolls open you up to a poise break or something would be vastly better than giving them barely any stam cost and making 80% of the boss attacks in the game into rollcatches.

A mainstream film about a hilariously incompetent, degenerate, and evil female god-queen fucking up so bad that she literally breaks the universe, supergod refuses to fix it, and her male half (which she gained presumably upon ascending to godhood because a god cannot be incomplete) has to desperately try to unfuck the situation for eons until somebody finally comes along to kill him and replace her? Yeah nah that's not gonna happen, enjoy the butchered lore where Marika did nothing wrong ever and the real villain was Godfrey because he's a toxic manly man who didn't agree with her idea of a perfect society or some shit.

Marika isn't incompetent, she's actively malicious, her plan was from the outset to make the GO, genocide her people's killers, send Godefry back into the world graceless with his men, create conflict internally, shatter the Elden Ring, and make everyone fight over it, forever and ever, the one hiccup was that Radagon, her other half was an actual believer.
All the Melina quoting Marika dialogue give this away, with Gideons message from Marika sealing the deal.

Why? Hate, Wrath and the wish for absolutely no one to ever have anything but conflict and misery in their lives again because he Tribe was turbo-genocided and put into pots to fuse with other viscera.. alive.

Every interaction that is recorded or mentioned with Marika has the other party terrified, her mere presence, and her pure malice is not just palpable, but overwhelming, she is never once mentioned as loving, caring or benevolent, all love for her religion is focused solely on The Erdtree and its many boons, and Radagon for his noble, thoughtful nature, of which Marika seems wholly separate in morals, desires and temperament, despite their weird Alchemical Rebus situation.

This is why they have her mirror story character, Miquella, be entirely the opposite, both in temperment, morals, and drive, Miquella is driven entirely out of love and compassion, but reaches the same sort of tyrannical ends.

so in brief, Marika wouldn't have to be depicted as bumbling.. she isn't, she's incredibly competent, and any moral system you could imagine in our world, would be unfathomably evil, a being who committed herself to an eons long plan, solely to create an eternal world of conflict, pain, suffering and oppression even fully knowing she would never be fully conscience to "enjoy" the fruits of her labor, but some part of her is still there, eternal, she is Marika the Eternal afterall, and no amount of crumbling her body into dust will ever really kill her, its hard to really call her Evil "in Universe" as she has the literal Source could to Reality, and thus her moral imperative IS the moral imperative.

Actually yeah, fair, once you understand that she's evil she doesn't look as incompetent. Still completely outside of what a modern film is willing to put onscreen without trying to make her look like she's in the right though. Might even turn it into some kind of Palestine metaphor because those are all the rage these days.

women can, and have been portrayed as evil in Woke World, Gone Girl is a rather famous movie, Women are not allowed to be portrayed as weak, sexual (in any sort of feminine way) or have any sort of Hero's Journey arc, they are always "finding out how perfect they always were".

and I doubt it, Elden Ring is, almost EXPLICITLY an allegory for the Rise and fall of the Holy Roman Empire, complete with iconography, events, tussling with other religions (that are clearly allegories for real religions, Those Who Live In Death are explicitly fucking Buddhist shit) coupling with the Academies, internal conflicts and MANY MANY more obvious parallels, now Hollywood might like this because it depicts it so poorly, but I dunno.

the main issue with a Marika origin story is rather simple, the game is explicit in hiding Marika's face from the player, I don't know why, but they go out of their way to do so, only Radagon is seen, and even then he's busted the fuck up.

again, there is no evil when you are God and actively control Reality, Evil is now what you say it is, Marika is just a really hateful, vindictive, and driven God, by our morals she'd be worse than Lucifer himself, as she first stole the afterlife from people by making death a near impossibility in any traditional sense, then she demanded that people who have escaped any way of living but her own to be completely destroyed or enslaved.

really all of her oppression is just to drive the final hook in, which is that she wants all parties on this world to toil and fight for eternity, its a brutal Zues-esque God story.
and I dunno why this "fucking sucks", its a neat premise, what if God just fucking hates you, and that guy, and God's own Kin, and the world itself, and God only became God to better express just how much it hates all of you, and has used all its power and infinite time at hand to perfectly ruin your world.

I thought this guy spent the last year going on about "co-op pve ruins the elden ring experience" and "pvp invasions are pivotal to a good soulsborne game". And now he's poisoning my yt recommended feed and shitting up nightreign forums with his weird fetish for skinwalking ranni's VA.

not her intent, she wants to free the world from the Greater Will, simply so she can plunge it into eternal conflict, she tells Gideon the truth, which is the thing he has sought the most, and in true greek tragedy its too much for even that old codger.
the truth is exactly what he says, you can never truly kill Marika because only a God can, and you can never become a God, all that you can do, is wrest the Elden Ring for a time, and someone else will come along and wrest it from you, and conflict will brew eternal, she wants everyone to fight and suffer in conflict forever, this will be true in every single ending except CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD and maybe Ranni's, who in the least used her newfound Godhood to peacefully sunset Marika, as shown in the cutscene.

Marika wins in every single ending, even CHAOS, as all she wants, is for everyone else, to be fucking miserable, she'd probably settle for "all dead" too, all her rules, are her strict religious shit, was just to breed eventual conflict, none of it was out of any sort of hardlined ideal or morals on her part, beyond hating Omens/Horned Ones.

That Ranni larper faggot makes my skin crawl and he's definitely going to troon out if he hasn't already. I used to think using AI Ranni to explain and talk about PVP shit was just a clever gimmick to grow his channel, a gimmick which seemed to work as he quickly grew bigger than other, more established PVP spergs such as Jeenine or Steelovsky. I remember checking out one of his streams and laughing a lot when it turned out he was just some smelly autist from Argentina and all of the comments were retards crying and going 'omg ur not a grill?!'. Not longer after he started using the Ranni voice changer (which did nothing to hide his accent) and I started getting heavy troon vibes.
