While true, to avoid this you can just ship the figurine in parts and require the customer to put the figure on the base. The skinny legs aren't as big a deal as people are making it out to be.
I beg to differ. You're not taking into consideration if it falls, or gets dropped, or knocked over. Something that happens purely by accident. Those are things you need to take into consideration when you're making a figure to sell to your audience. People expect stronger durability from something like an "action" figure or vinyl collectable.
I realize that not all of these things can be fixed, that it would be too tedious and costly and the product would never end up being produced if that were the case. But something as important as a figure's anchor to its stand---what actually enables it to stand upright, that is not something to be taken more lightly.

That is a seriously thin threshold. I could totally see it snapping off by accident. Even by vinyl standards, considering vinyl is more durable than other materials like foam or thinner types of plastic.
