#Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

ALL Comics are mediocre if you want to get technical because none of them are 100% original anymore and the quality depends on the taste of the person, so I don't know why you all feel the need to refer to THIS particular brand as such literally every time you all bring it up. You don't have to like the brand and I'm willing to bet none of you have read them or read past the first three or four books and you don't have to like the guy responsible for them either, but you're better off just saying he makes comics at this point because calling something mediocre ESPECIALLY when they're still over performing for the type of brand they are, kind of lost its meaning now. There are people that call Comics like Kamen America and even the Ghost Machine brand mediocre, although I'm sure there's a lot of people and most likely on here as well, that would disagree with that. I'm not ball washing for the guy don't get me wrong, but it's kind of pointless to call something mediocre in a hobby that logic would apply to everything in it, and when the market clearly says otherwise, especially now at this point.

Well it makes sense, but I think people need to lay off calling the products mediocre in a hobby where everything is technically mediocre, INCLUDING things that people clearly enjoy even now. One person's mediocrity is another person's source of entertainment after all.

I get that you're probably a Rippaverse customer and enjoy those comics. That's perfectly OK. You're allowed to enjoy whatever you like, regardless of what other people think. Personally, I think pretty much all superhero comics are fucking retarded, no matter who makes them. I think the genre is played out, there are no stakes to the stories, and the genre holds the entire medium back in cultural terms. But that's beside the point.

When I use the word "mediocre" in the context of posts like my last one when referring to Rippaverse, it's not me expressing my opinion on Rippaverse comics. It's Ethan and Zack's criticism of Rippaverse comics. Their whole argument against Eric July is that his comics aren't very good. I find this amusing because 1) Ethan and Zack's comics are also not very good and 2) Eric July has an actual product. The comics actually have to exist to be mediocre in the first place, right?

And there's no accounting for taste with these guys as they both ball wash 90s Image garbage and Zack is convinced that he makes "the best comics out there", which I assure you he does not. So yes, it's all subjective but it's also the only argument they have against July and their taste sucks anyway.

PS: Anything is open for ridicule and it doesn't matter if it's something another person finds entertaining. People are entertained by all kinds of retarded bullshit (just see the furry threads on this very forum) and we mock the fuck out of all of it. Calling your favorite comics "mediocre" is goddamn near effusive praise around here so count your blessings, my friend.

Ok, that's fair enough. The funny part is they BOTH used to think the products were actually very good in the beginning and EVS even called Isom a masterpiece, until they both suddenly decided not to like them anymore and gave lame reasons that no normal person would believe or take seriously as to why they changed their minds. Also I agree, everything is open for ridicule including things like Kamen America and Ghost Machine, and I'm fine with all that. I'm just glad to see there's other people that have my same mindset regarding subjective taste, and that's really all I wanted to hear to be honest. Also if what you're saying is true about calling something "mediocre" on here compared to the other stuff you all usually talk about, than yes I guess I'm very grateful for that and will take it as a compliment or even a phrase. Also yes I am a customer, and I've enjoyed everything I've read from them so far. I'm more than willing to accept that not everybody is going to like everything in there but it's crazy how many people are convinced that if they can't like something, no one can or actually does throughout the internet. Also I've read Cyberfrog, and I have to say the '90s one was more impressive than his current ones, which honestly isn't saying much and even that one gets boring after reading it more than a few times....as for YBZ, I hear nothing but negative comments about his books, especially jawbreakers. The guy doesn't even listen to criticism and he openly brags about it too. EVS can't take it either and actually rage quit his own live stream when he was told to stop complaining about someone else. Those two people are complete hypocrites, and I'm surprised they even have an audience at this point in time. Hell outside of being baited by Dick Masterson that one time over an obvious and deliberate fake bad review, Eric July has been taking criticism like a champ to the point where at least 90% of his haters have moved on from him because they found him too boring for content by now, and the bad quality narrative doesn't even work anymore. Say what you want about all three of them, BUT I REFUSE to listen to or even take seriously complete hypocrites who don't even take their own advice but expect everyone to listen to them....EVS and YBZ are good examples. Btw Rippaverse doesn't just make superhero comics, they're actually expanding the genre and have already done so. Superhero stories are not the only things they make now, they also make horror and science fiction as well among other genres too.

Yeah, YBZ is not really fooling anyone outside of very small audience of viewers that will take his word for it no questions asked. Also I agree with a point that was made from before, I don't think he is trying to destroy EJ's brand because they all know they can't at this point, he's just trying to run damage control for the damage they all did to their own brand by not fulfilling like they should have....him and EVS BOTH. They BOTH can get FUCKED for all I care. I can see why Fascist Kirk gave what he gave.

Last time Null got pissed about stickers and disabled/re-enabled them I have successfully resisted clicking that bell. Number go up is all I know now. Sometimes number go down but mostly up. We could probably break 20k tonight by going Full Fatpacks but nah.

I mean, the only "good" period CG had was when people were treating it as war bonds for the culture war, quality or timeliness be fucking damned.

As for the mainstream, legitimate question: Is it that different from CG at this point? It has been churning shit-tier product for way over a decade, and it managed to stay afloat throughout the past decade thanks to the indirect traffic it got from tourists due to the movies...which have pretty much dried up by now (The peak is more than 6 years behind us by now), but they've chased away a huge chunk of their fanbase in the intervening years, and manga has been fucking them in the ass sales-wise for years upon years. If anything, the next years look pretty fucking bleak for mainstream comics if you ask me.

Conan may be a top 5 film for me. It's got just about everything you could want and yes, one of the greatest scores in film history.

The only thing I really didn't like is that it gave Conan a gay ass "revenge motive as origin" backstory that he never needed and as a consequence normies still think the Cimmerians were wiped out and Conan is one of those "last of my kind" characters, which sort of diminishes what actual tough bastards Cimmerians were.

But that is a somewhat minor nitpick against what is otherwise a masterwork.

Clint Hilinskis Superiors was a great read but he's stuck in coomer baiting fucking pirate queen and shit like that. Which is real frustrating when your waiting for him to continue the god damned story
