I guess I'll attempt a rebuttal "unpacking" of that BS. Not everyone who uses generative AI is rich. Also, if there was not AI, then the rich boogeymen could just hire cheap foreign labor instead. Copyright law as it already was before generative AI already allowed megacorporations to claim exclusive rights to certain intangible content, and the smaller artist already found it hard to compete with them anyway. Finally, "identity" is not a collective, and in the case of "marginalized groups", such is not holy either.

And as for the other claim of AI using a lot of power, that is only during the production. And if a power source like the oh-so-dreaded nuclear is used (leftists do not like atomic power for some reason), it doesn't have a "carbon footprint". And a lot of electricity is used to enable the internet and that "social media", which SJWs live off of.

Counterpoint: Does every opinion just have to be a left/right issue? I think the effect is mostly because most artists traditionally happen to be on the liberal side and artists are the group that currently feels most threatened by the technological advancement. I don't think AI like/dislike is a political stance. It might very well become one because with both left and right the groupthink sadly is very strong and people will just fall in with their flock before going through the effort to actually form an opinion themselves.

It is true that large data centers consume immense amounts of water, but the real problem is they're often located in jurisdictions that give them enormous tax advantages and on top of that, allow them to basically drain the groundwater to the point people with family homes with wells for generations suddenly can't even get water from them. It's a real problem.

Thing is, this is far from unique to AI. There's also crypto, but then there's also enormous social media platforms that these whiny little bitches use all day long every day. The biggest offenders are things like Google, Meta, X, etc.

By comparison to all the other uses, Kiwi Farms is green as all fuck.

What’s hilarious to me is, it’s true. You really could. Drawing is not some magical talent that only a lucky few possess, it’s a skill. A whole lot of being good at drawing is just spending lots of time drawing.

So if anybody can just do this themselves, what exactly makes “artists” entitled to compensation for it? Once somebody learns to draw for themselves, why would they ever pay for you to do it for them?

I really couldn't give less of a fuck for modern disney. They've fallen off since 2020 and since have made only like one good animated film that being Encanto (which I haven't even watched). Pixar has been carrying them and even they're faltering.
