reddit General

Some of my favorite memories I have of the internet were on niche forums that maybe has a couple thousand members. And like 100-200 active posters.
The slow death of small forums was pretty much the turning point and where i realized things have changed and won't ever go back to how they were online. Not even sure if social media was already a big thing when the niche forum decline started but i think so.
Even the good ol' days werent that great, got banned from a server in fucking 2006 for making rape jokes and saying fag a lot, like nigger who cares lmao
I can't remember being ever banned from somewhere for slurs. Except on reddit, where i got perma'd for using "troon" in the ~3 months i was using the site. I got given shit by other players and reported for, uh, "racially charged" user names on the last couple of online games i played (Path of Exile and D2R), too.

it's reddit sir, they had r/jailbait and it was one of the most popular subreddits because it's reddit sir, of course it was one of the most popular subreddits. then anderson cooper did a segment on it on CNN and it got more negative mainstream media attention after that and they banned it. this was 15+ years ago now

i am not reading all of that
Reddit Euros really make the average European look bad, imagine letting another country live rent free in your head like that, I will fully admit that our government sucks, but they will defend dictatorships like the UK or Sweden who arrest their own women for defending theirselves against a Arab or African guy trying to rape him because it’s le not nice for some reason, they have completely lost the plot, America badly needs a revolution but Western Europe needs it even more in terms of the people’s freedom, they’ve lost the plot thinking America is somehow imperializing them when it’s their leaders who willfully cooperate with the worst elements of the US government

Re: featured post about Reddit mods

I once got a global warning for "sexual harassment" because I told a Redditor moderator to suck my dick (The old Ralphamale special) after getting a 3 day ban for making a slightly off color joke in /r/publicfreakouts. Keep in mind this is literally a subreddit dedicated to drug addicts and mentally ill people losing their minds in public so you would think there would be a little leeway, right? Nope. This guy (or tranny who knows) got so asshurt he literally accused me of making violent sexual remarks about him because I told him to blow me for banning me for no good reason whatsoever. Then he permabanned me from the sub lol.

IIRC publicfreakouts banned videos with niggers in them (so 90% of content that would fit on that sub) for a time because users started to nootice and also started not being shy in comments. No clue if it is still like that, i don't use reddit apart from checking stuff for obscure video games these days (and getting shit by that faggot mascot for using a VPN more often than not, at which point i default to "Guess i'll never know then").

OH SHIT I REMEMBER THAT! Yes, basically the comments of any videos relating to blacks or other brown groups started getting comments you'd be more likely to see on Kiwifarms then on Reddit so the moderators went SHUT IT DOWN on all chimpout videos. That has since been lifted there was a top video about Compton full of blacks at the top of the sub today.

To be fair, I understand where this guys coming from, there is scams going around on A03, Wattpad, and other sites where people pester you and e-beg you for buying their art and rugpull giving you stolen or ai art. If they want to not have that problem maybe set up a verified service? I am tired of people thinking "Oh we tried everyhting so there's nothing we can do :P" then they ban it. But still, average Reddit Mod behavior.

Neodiogenes is a fucking poser, Diogenes would've been naked and acting like a wild animal but this faggot is acting like a faggot.
The HBO series Six Feet Under mocked that Reddit mod’s phenotype over the course of the series.

Ben Foster plays a liberal arts major that believes morals are fabricated and life should be dedicated to the pursuit of hedonism. Edgy Reddit shit. The teen girl in the show thinks he’s super awesome right up until he betrays her.

One interesting aspect of the show is in the end she has to choose between a liberal unstable lefty or a hyper masculine, racist, Christian, Conservative politician. She picks the conservative.

Which is all surprising considering the show was created by a gay guy. Anyway, it makes me wonder how many of these guys are now failed artists who do nothing but bed rot and pointless shit like mod Reddit.

Those pics must be from like 15 years ago, no fucking way this permaonline jannie looks like that being almost 60

And no thats not a foldable thats one of those retarded wallet phone cases that were popular with early smartphones which is around 15 years ago when this nigga was in his mid forties, hes likely bald now

Speaking of that how the fuck you spent almost your entire life online since the beginning of the dotcom era in the nineties and not become a millionaire? there was so much dumb money going around, maybe Im too young or whatever but I hear stories from that era and its like any faggot with a .com domain could get a million to do whatever, oldfags fell free to correct me
I see a lot of people around 50 use those wraparound phone cases. They dont grab their phones as often so the unwieldiness doesnt really matter.
And getting rich off the dotcom only happens if you tries to start your own business. Like you start some .com or some stupid software company and get a suit to buy in. If you just worked as a code monkey, your only big wealth accumulation was getting a house in an area that was about to blow up in value. And later on you could ask for loads of money as a greybeard (assuming you just happen to have the lost skills in something that still requires maintenance).
What's sad is that Reddit was a different place when I first joined. It was liberal overall. But I would describe it as center left with a touch of Libertarianism. A lot of its userbase were free speech absolutists. I also remember most Reddit users at the time being pro-gun. What started happening (I think) is that many of the containment subreddits were "defeated" and those users slowly worked their way into being power mods. Mods for much hated subreddits at the time like /r/rShitRedditSays and /r/jailbait now run most of Reddit. It's hard to believe this was upvoted on Reddit 11 years ago.
This is mentioned before in the thread. Back then there was a strong Ron Paul supporter base. Tech was much more libertarian (the idea that everyone could make themselves into something thanks to free access of information, everyone could copy eachother's work so things could be developed faster and only a single person had to figure it out. Instead of everyone guarding their ideas so a lot of development would end up being doubled). You see it with how email and internet is set up as well. Just open protocols anyone can hook up to, rather than being one big server ran by a company in which everything happened.

I loved how with videogames you could have multiple forums. The official forums, a fan forum, a forum that hosted all sorts of RTS games including the one you were playing, forums in different languages, etc. Now everything is just a sub on reddit. Some developers dont even bother with an official forum anymore.

Im surprised how based my country is. I expected everyone to be pearlclutching libtards but they're actually pretty good at NOOticing.

Holy shit. I expected that faggoty behaviour to just be at worse a 30yo neckbeard. 58 and behaving like a bullied teenager has to be peak reddit :story:
If he wants another moderator job he should send Null an email. He'd probably get the position immediately.

It's the same couple powerjannies on sock accounts. That's why they all act the same.
Damn, just like they do here? I'm shocked!

what is it about becoming a reddit mod that suddenly causes a superiority complex to arise in someone? the reddit mod stereotype exists because this type of shit happens so often where a reddit mod has a meltie and spergs out over criticism (criticism of their blatantly scummy and cringe actions).

like, does acting as an unpaid janitor fill these people with so much pride that they think they're suddenly better than other people?

Love the show, in my eternal top 3 of shows, but i never viewed Ben like that before. You might be on to something here :story:

Edit:
Andrew E Alter age 58 is reddit jannie neodiogenes
You literally can't make this shit up. I would've never expected this dude to be 58, as @Megatardingo already said. No matter how bad you think of reddit mods, reality manages to be worse.

I said "All trans people are evil" a few years ago in the Apex Legends subreddit right after they revealed the tranny legend. I think i was instabanned immediately from the sub and within 5min I got a global ban. It makes you wonder how the site isnt completely dead yet

I got a ban and down voted until my comment was hidden on a sub for telling a little fatty skater asking for advice on how to ollie higher that he needs to lose weight so that he'll be able to jump higher when he ollies. Of course telling him the truth was too mean for these faggots which is going to actually keep him from getting good because they were all telling him that he just needs heckin practice and a smile then he'll be just like Tony Hawkarino in no time! Reddit is immune to good advice and pragmatism.
