Whenever Nora mentions academia I just remember her degree in university studies.
That shouldn't even a degree. It's basically "Tard Studies" and saying you have a degree in that is like having a degree in being stupid, fat and lazy.
Yeah, speaking as a fan of classic literature?
Perhaps she didn't read Marx because, while historically significant, The Communist Manifesto is complete dreck.
Unfortunately, it's actually rather well written, in the sense of presenting a compelling narrative and convincing its audience. Plenty of people read it and went nuts, with the Internationale ringing in their head.
The problem now is obviously that if you read it and don't very shortly thereafter look back on history and notice none of this shit worked, at all, ever, you are pretty goddamn dumb.
There are a lot of commies in history whose only actual reading was this book, and it was absurdly influential for as completely full of shit as it is.
I attribute its success to the fact that its broadsides against unregulated capitalism are actually pretty accurate. Where it fails is that there's a bait and switch in the middle, where it tricks the reader into thinking that its criticism of capitalism inevitably leads to the revolutionary model later favored by Lenin, while there is actually nearly no connection between the two, and obviously, the revolutionary model is an absolute failure as a replacement for capitalism.
This is why nearly any dumb, rambling argument of this sort is called a "manifesto" now, such as the Unabomber Manifesto. They quite often raise valid points, usually at the beginning, but then go full tard. "Modern society has these problems. . .therefore, I will send bombs to random people! QED!"
I do agree, though, with at least the minimal part of Nora's argument, which is that anyone who wants to talk politics but hasn't read any Marx at all is probably just talking shit. Unless you're actually a scholar of the subject, reading Das Kapital should only happen as part of some punishment for committing a crime, but if you're completely unfamiliar with the writings of one of the primary villains of the 19th and 20th Centuries, you're probably pretty lazy.
You probably also don't know much about politics. Even if Nora is an idiot, she's actually right about Shanley Kane also being an idiot.
