>assumed blue player decides to try something different out for a change
Don't play Blue😑

I said I haven't played in a while (because of work) and I played a Non-Blue (AKA: Dune-Brood/Red, Green, White, Black) with only a few bits of single-targeted land destruction.

Them managing to be key in shifting the games in my favor is what I was surprised by.

Don't play Blue
It was really weird that you specifically mentioned non-blue land destruction, that's all.

I haven't played in a while because I'm in the FUCK WOTC FOREVER part of the terminal MTG addict cycle...with no end in sight yet.

You're good man.

It wasn't even nothing that crazy. For example: Strip Mine on this artifact player's Steam Vents right before he had to sac his only other land Urza's Saga. The guy kinda petered out from that point on despite it being Turn 5 and having seven other mana rocks. Especially once the Bant bounce player whipped out out Aura Shards.

I happened to get in contact with an irl contac
He has been dark from social media and even the contact I was aware of deleted their Facebook account years ago. Next time you are in contact, would you mind asking if Harold is willing to sign a few cards? If so, please let me know and I'm happy to work out a way that respects his privacy and tip as needed.

I haven't played since Innistrad. Does mtg have an original setting anymore or is it all ip's now?
Nope when they realized that they could just halfass shit and people would lap it up, the closest thing we have come to original and interesting was Ixalan and they ruined that in the return by making the underground even more "Totally not ripoff of Azetch" shit.

The original settings are basically just real tropes from cultures but magic cards.

So like, ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, vaporwave Japan, outer space, Norse mythology

This may be controversial, but after playing a couple games (IRL and online) recently with a Non Blue deck.

I've really gotten to see how unprepared some retards are to deal with targeted land destruction. Even at a nearly-competitive level.
What format(s)? If it was some form of commander, I’m that’s expected lmfao. Otherwise curious what cards you’re using if it’s some sort of REAL format

Well if there’s any time… at least hop in Lorwyn and try that. We got a long drought ahead and I’d enjoy what we have :(

Like "A haunted house, but an entire plane instead" oooh spokey:|
I will defend duskmourn as an interesting take on a horror set and a “modern” setting. I definitely have my gripes with the level/presence/type of tech being a bit too futuristic/modern, or the survivors being literal high schoolers in spotless clothes, but it’s not a bad idea. Really good draft set too.

EDIT: I do wish we had less pastiche sets though.

Commander but it was supposed to be more high level games.

My friends tried getting me into the other formats initially as well, but they stop playing themselves (Standard and Modern respectfully).

One even sold his original Gaea's Cradle on the way out.

Yo, mothafuckas, how it's goin'?

Yes, even currently he can and will sign cards still. Get in contact with Joseph Petterson on Harolds Facebook. That is his local middleman for all mtg inquiries right now.

I believe it. I didn't find that personally but based on the interview I watched and some more info about his past alleged abuse his parents did and his theory most people aren't evil they're acting out traumas they've faced I believe it. I think he's a smart guy that's been villainized.
Apologies for going so far back, but your recent message reminded me I meant to ask this.
In your talks with him, have you ever asked about the controversial art or was it something you’ve avoided?
I watched an interview with him and it all seems like he’s immensely anti-group, anti-identity, anti-racist. Genuinely a nice guy that makes good art (both visually and the fact some of it was so controversial). Anything “controversial” about him other than the art he made is just “he’s old and right wing”.
Genuinely curious to hear more about him. Really interesting guy and the internet provides nothing.
Apologies if you’ve already answered this kind of question before.

While I don't play anymore, I like to brew decks for fun. I put blood moon in a commander deck and showed some coworkers. You'd think I shot their dog and fed it to their kids with how they reacted.

I dunno if you can, you have to make something gay enough that also doesn't instantly win with Infinite Mana like Kenrith does, because with Kenrith you can go completely infinite and still have to play it out because you can juke someone out by having fog so it is always correct to make Kenrith puke everything out before you cast fog and leave them vulnerable.

At least with Skrully here "Oh I make infinite mana and can activate the damage infinitely, the game is over"
