BLFC is over and I caught wind of something that happened last night, dubbed "The Floor 21 Incident" by people in the fandom. Two furs, @chadbla and @_emberwolf, took an unknown substance and started freaking the fuck out. Chad stripped down to just a diaper, because of fucking course that would happen, and crashed a party that he had previously left. Ember went psychotic in his room and started calling "for his daddy". Both were sedated and taken by paramedics.

A fur named Rokaotter was at the party and shared his account of what happened. (Paragraphs added by me to break up the wall of text.)

‪I was the door man for our suite party last night on floor 21. A couple attendees @_Emberwolf and @CHADBLAleft the party left the party around 9:00PM they returned very briefly before leaving again. Around 11:00PM I looked out into the hallway and saw Chad coming back to the party wearing nothing but a diaper, manic and sweating profusely, I knew instantly he was under the influence of something, my first reaction was to calm him and get him into a private place, I led him to the bathroom to try and cool him down. From there I got a couple more people in to help, at that point we got the diaper off of him and into the shower, shortly after he forced his way out of the shower and punched me in the throat and tried choking and shoving us out of his way.

At this point I realized he was under the influence of something stronger than MDMA/Molly (Possibly PCP, bath salts or some novel designer drug) I removed myself from the bathroom and called casino security to get him medical help. After contacting security I went to find Ember, when I found him he was in a room on the other end of floor 21 also wearing nothing but a diaper and strung out on something as well, there was another person in the room trying to calm him so I went and called security from the phone by the elevator.

When I returned to the room that Ember was in he was clearly in a state of panic and running into stuff in the room while screaming for his daddy and screaming that he was dying, at that point we decided it was best just to get him into the hallway where he couldn't injure himself further. Within a couple minutes the hotel's medic and security arrived and we moved him to the couch my the elevators. Shortly later Reno police, fire and paramedics arrived they sedated Ember and took him to the hospital along with Chad.

This is my record of the events. I know it may not be the most appropriate thing to name drop but the record needs to be straight. We have recived an apology from Chad and he is remorseful of his actions, we have yet to receive any apology from Ember.

Someone's bound to defend the retard who took an unknown substance, stripped down to a diaper, and became violent.

It's part of the problem caused by what I call "The Tumblr Generation." Naive kids, who live on the internet and think they have it aaaaaall figured out... at the age of 15. Or worse yet, twenty-somethings or early-thirty-somethings who currently only have a teenager's mental development and have stalled there. They're really no different from kids in the 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's. They're just as dumb, just as irresponsible, just as gross, and just as annoying as any kid in those awkward teen years can be. The only difference is that while kids in the past would be limited to annoying their parents with their rock and roll, these kids have access to technology and the Internet to annoy everyone with. They build their little safe space special snowflake echo chambers which only bolster their belief they are right and have it aaaaaaall figured out. UGH! Kids in the past would hopefully grow out of it and move on, but with that Internet echo-chamber, plus the fact "the Internet never forgets," kids today are clinging on to their juvenile, naive worldview bullshit way, way longer than is healthy. Furries, being mostly comprised of young people, express all this Tumblr Generation bullshit at industrial strength toxic levels.

Agreed. The Furry fandom is especially composed of all of these things and more. In the end this a community in which everyone knows they are a little (or more) different than most people. So these guys are going to feel isolated at home which gives them a reason to gravitate to the internet. The internet provides a place for furries to meet others like them and feel safe. Add in meet-ups and furry conventions and you get your average furry meeting hundreds of individuals all over the world.

Thus the community becomes one where all is accepted no matter how asocial or demented you are. Sadly this mean that being tolerant becomes an excuse to be ignorant towards issues and problems that plague the community. You would think that people in the furry community would band together to stop babyfurs, or pedos, or even nazis from joining their community. But often times people just turn a blind eye away from these smaller communities and yet at the same time talk about banning these sort of people from the fandom.

Then you have furries who believe that attacking another furry, no matter if there's a good reason or not, is akin to becoming a traitor and abandoning the community. It just becomes a really toxic place where people are scared to call someone out for fear of being an enemy to the very community that accepted them for who they are. Basically nobody wants to work the boat.

In the end there's a lot of problems that the furry community has that needs to be addressed but with the fact that the community is composed of young impressionable kids and adults who never grew up, there's not much one can do to help.

- vomit puddle on the main floor of the hotel blocking elevators one night
- noise complaints Saturday forcing most parties to move into the hallway
- someone had a guest shit on their bathroom floor (not uncommon for those that host room parties)
- casino-goers getting irate with the 5.3k furries
- someone stealing a chair from one of the room floors and keeping it in an elevator
- a guy decked out in full camo and gas mask with a communist flag wandering the con

But hey no diapers to speak of yet except for the guy having a bad trip in the hallway.

For better or worse, there has been a LOT of beware lists and callout blogs beginning to crop up and people are becoming more aware of the gross fuckwads and how to avoid them. People are beginning to be banned from cons, like 2gryphon (correct me if I'm wrong but I'm p sure he was banned from being in panels or something) and Magnus whatshisface (confederate flag fursuit lmfao). People like Java (dogfucker) have had their suit business defamed for good reason. There's efforts. Some becoming as cringe as what they're trying to dispel (see: ANTIFA furs) but hey at least its an effort. Others are absolutely fantastic (Artists_Beware@LJ first comes to mind, and fuckingfurries@tumblr has a very comprehensive list of pedos and nazis and other ppl to stay the fuck away from). Still plenty of people who turn a blind eye to or defend the gross ones, but it's getting better, which I hypothesize to be a weird actually positive side effect of the callout culture tumblr teens.

I do agree that it should be more enforced and nasties should be weeded out of the community but we've got a start and we just gotta keep the ball rolling to maybe, maybe make ourselves a fraction less of embarrassing degenerates.

That's good to hear. Im not involved in the community expect as a curious bystander, but its nice to know that there are steps being taken to actively make the fandom a better place. It just easy to lose hope when you see lolcows who are furries and just general a depraved set of individuals, and see the furry community not do much to stop them.
