I think one part of what caused this is a consequence of how uniquely terrible American news agencies are, and the lengths they have to go in order to keep their 24/7 news channels profitable.
I only have the UK as a point of comparison, but our news programs are in conjunction to other shit the station can actually make money off of. Soap operas will sandwich the 5 o'clock news, which runs for 30 minutes and is done after. CNN, Fox, etcetera - news channels have to rely on being as engaging as regular entertainment in order to keep eyes on screens and justify what they charge for ad space, necessitating constant "sky is falling" rhetoric that I think slowly infected people to the point they now believe there's constant uncovering of conspiracies, inevitable fascism, creeping genocide, and an incoming demonic conquest of the United States.
We have dedicated news channels in the UK, shit like GBnews and TalkTV and the BBC, but their production is far cheaper than what I've seen with CNN and Fox and MSNBC, who have these giga-huge and varied sets, tons of people on screen who are minor celebs in their own right, with ample on-site reporting, etcetera. We have twats reading headlines straight off of physical newspapers straight into the camera.
Once they die, and mundane politics no longer feels like a constant life and death battle, then I think we'd be part of the way there to normalcy again.

The reason conservatives have an issue with the Charlie Kirk "joke" is because they saw many people on the left celebrating his death for months after he was murdered. It feels like less of a joke and more just like open mocking of his death and the people who cared about him (which it is). It's not joking, it's just open celeberation which is sick and why people have an issue. This is not rocket science.
If you guys want less political stuff in the thread just post it. Reddit is full of retarded people saying retarded shit be the change you wish to see.

I remember that time. I prefer this. Reddit-youtube channels of old were absolute cancer and I don't wish them back again, I prefer TDS-laden retards.
People with TDS regularly bring him up in every-day conversation. I know because my dad suffers from it and he keeps mentioning him at the dinner table.
I've definitely noticed a very strange and scary uptick in the amount of people who are just, insanely political, since 2020. I could consider myself one of those people but I can sit back, watch some video's and relax without thinking of mean ol' Trump, I doubt Redditors actually have that ability to. Something about that period of 2020-2021, people were turning extremely vitriolic and spiteful against one another's political view. Maybe it had to do with the 2016 election? Because culture war certainly existed around that time as well, but people were laughing at the people proposed to culture war instead of rallying with. It's certainly a very interesting development, and it caused Lowcows to exist out of the ether, so I'm not complaining.
How much you want to bet that these faggots complaining didn't even vote? If you didn't vote, shut the fuck up about the results, easy as.
Every time I watched the news as a kid, I thought that when I would grow older, I'd be super intelligent and know all these super-kabaal-level type things about this 'politics'. Now I'm here, talking about how retarded people are twenty-four-seven. I never pondered whether it was me just finding politics to be not interesting or that politics has delved so hard downward that it's become a joke of its former self. It's certainly the latter, because I do still interest myself in actual economic policies and not culture war bullshit. If you do look back at older debates of yonder past, you see that people were actually respectful to one another, delved into important talking points and bargained with one another through compromise. It's such a joke now-a-days, whereby the loudest voice wins, you have to do your little TikTok dance on the Instagrams to please young viewers, it's asinine.
