SMG4 Thread - consider yourself retarded - SMG4's motto

I watched smg4 back in 2016-17 when I was in middle school. Liked the old content. Found this on xitter thought I should post it here, gave me a laugh because I heard some of the new stuff was bad or whatever. I just have a Nostalgia for things I watched as a kid so I don't take it seriously
 
Never really kept up with SMG4 but the video is certainly an end of an era for the people who watched the channel over the years.

He redesigned most of the characters i guess because he was scared of a lolsuit even though he kept Mario and Luigi the same

I teared up a little when Scatman World came on that was a staple of Mario 64 bloopers from 2006-2012


Did anyone here watch other SM64 bloopers by other people like Megaman765, MarioMario54321, Matthewgu4 and Starman3

MM54321 was peak autism kino in the late 2000s - early 2010s. What happened to Starman3?

mm is still making videos, although he has had bad interactions with smg4 such as cussing him out in a Morse code message because smg4 didn't put his collab entry in one of his collabs. He also made a video with was directed at smg4 basically having a meltdown because smg4 got more popular and he didn't.

Starman3 is a groomer and he forced people to make him the main character in his videos, smg4 took down the videos that were about him. Also he was featured on keemstar's show this year, he should have his own thread

I think MM54321's videos never hit the mainstream because you had to have a very specific type of autism to enjoy them. SMG4 took the Mario 64 machinima formula and made it appeal to a much wider demographic of autistic teenagers, hence why he made it big.

I remember a lot of MM54321's fans boycotted his channel after he made a video complaining about comments asking why Lily stopped appearing in his videos. I hope he's doing alright, he's clearly a massive sperg but his videos were a big part of my childhood.

Lily is actually going to return in his final series "Dark Star X: The Final Attack" although at the rate it's going it won't be finished by 2050
 
It's been almost a decade since I watched SMG4. I've heard a few things about it since then, but I never watched any of the newer videos.

Since this is the final video, I've decided to watch it. It was rather jarring.
  • Almost everyone has voice acting for some reason
  • The SMG4 redesign was uglier in motion than what I've expected (I've never watched any video with it until now)
  • Too many literally who characters I also suppose to care about on an emotional level
  • Too much stuff was done in Gmod, and it also looked unnaturally smooth a few times
  • Et cetera...

I don't want to sound too negative, but this is just how I feel about it. On a more positive note, the Scatman part made me smile. I used to watch SMG4 a lot when I was younger, so that part was a real nostalgia trip.
I've recently found a YouTube channel that's basically "old SMG4, but made by a soyteen."


The SM64 blooper format works surprisingly well in the modern day.
 
Gonna be real, but while the writing was on the wall for SMG4's demise (with its descent into being safe for youtube peanuts and sponsors, the influx of original, non-Mario-related characters and redesigns solely to be marketable, Glitch Productions, all the various other changes to placeate Nintendo even though they seem to have no care for this), I do say the ending of this channel feels like there might be some deeper reason, and frankly what was the real crux of him ending the channel: he might've been barred from ever being sponsored again due to them getting tips of his past "dangerous" videos. Especially since prior videos with sponsors have their segments cut out, like the Baldi video had a Dollar Shave Club segment at the start that is abruptly removed.

I do want to know more about SMG4's end.

Wait, SMG4 had sponsors? And why would Dollar Shave Club of all companies sponsor SMG4 when the audience is so young they don't even have facial or body hair yet?
