It's been discussed more in the shipping thread, but for as much as tumblrinas wanna go on about muh Feminism and superficially talk about how awesome women are, when it comes down to it they still pay way more attention to male characters having buttsex and aren't always kind to female characters they view as a threat to it.

Not to mention the transtrenders who decide they (temporarily) don't want to be women anymore because being a woman isn't fashionable or interesting enough. Because women are awesome.

If it's even possible, can somebody please explain why Tumblr needs to make every character they come across LGBT+, even if the character shows signs of being heterosexual and or cis?
I'm guessing it's to forcefully give themselves a character to identify with, despite it being easy to have relatable characters that are opposite sex/orientation of yourself.
Maybe the characters' personalities are too cool to be relatable by tumblr standards so they add on superficial traits, like being gay, and then tumblr can say "see! This character is just like me if they're gay!" It's a lot of self-insertion fantasy going on over there. Why do you think there's so many otherkins on that site?

Some people do it because they can't be bothered to look any deeper into a character to find anything relatable about them beyond sexual orientation. After all, if you define your entire personality and existence on your probably made-up gender or orientation, you're bound to define other people the same way.

Others, though, do it purely to spite straight/white/cis people, by taking away something they perceive as belonging to straight/white/cis people and "claiming" them as their own. This is the explanation Kiva Bay, for example, gave for her role in the Trans Samus incident. Apparently they assume that anyone outside of their circlejerk gives a shit if some harpy with hair the colour of an LSD trip thinks the Babadook is a genderqueer transdemiboy or whatever.

When I used to try to talk sense to Men's Rights Activitists (yeah, yeah, I was young and naive), one of them once made this argument about men being better than women: "There are more male fighter pilots than there are female. This proves that there are more men with superior skills/potential than women, which in turn makes me better than you because I am a man and you are not."

People with no life skills, low potential, and a raging entitlement complex derive their sense of worth not from their accomplishments, but from belonging to a group of people who are perceived to have more accomplishments than other groups--whence racism, sexism, etc.

And those groups that don't particularly think they have accomplishments in evidence will try to shoehorn people with skills/potential/accomplishments into their own groups--whence the insistence that various figures throughout history and in fiction were secretly gay/trans/atheist etc. despite all evidence to the contrary.

TL;DR version: They have no accomplishments but need to feel validated somehow, so groupism to the rescue!

You raise quite some good points.

The whole "all straight/white/cis ppl r evulzz" argument still boggles me to this day.

They want to slobber all over something so the straights can't have it and then giggle when they dare be confused about it.

Saw these pride flag Bambis on my dash. Why isn't the rainbow flag enough? I thought that was supposed to represent the whole LGBT spectrum? But now that there are so many letters attached to it I guess it's not enough? Having pride co-opted by made up genders and sexualities just makes everyone take it less seriously and think that anyone who isn't straight is whoring for attention and special privileges.

I think maybe the one at the bottom is asexual. Because that's totally a thing you are going to be maimed or killed or discriminated against for being. If anything people will just eventually give up bugging you about relationships. That is if it's for real and you're just not sexually repressed, too gross to get a date or doing it for attention.

And as it is with the fucked up ouroboros that is tumblr, "babadook is gay" jokes where it's stereotypical as shit are bad now because nobody just wanted to say that they disliked a comic solely because it's bland as can be. But whatever, as long as it's relevant and can grab notes easily, right?

At least the deer are kinda cute.

2nd: Lesbian (Because Tumblr doesn't want a pride flag that can apply to icky men, I guess?)
3rd: Trans.
4th: Pansexual (Bisexuality for special snowflakes.)
5th: Bisexual.

You're correct, last one is asexual. A lot of Tumblr aces think they're discriminated against because they're bugged about relationships (although everyone gets that) or people are displaying affection near them (although a lot of people dislike PDA too). So they also want to say that they're here and they're- oh wait most of Tumblr really hates the word "queer."

1) LGBT/Gay
2) Lesbian
3) Trans
4) Pan
5) Bi
6) Ace

These are actually pretty pedestrian compared to some of the other photosets I've seen. (Also, the deer are cute.) Some I have to google because I've never seen them before. And yet there are a lot of existing ones that get ignored in these things like adult baby pride and gay bear pride. Guess they're not cute enough to make icons for.
