Inactive Elliot Rodger - The Supreme Gentleman

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
You don't. They don't. But Socal is very weird and fucked up. With the combination of high population density and most of the entertainment industry being there, how can it not be? It's one of those things where you don't notice it until you've moved away (I used to live there). I guess it would be a bit like living in Florida and thinking it's normal, except not quite that crazy.

I should add it has little to do with Elliot's fuckery. He would have pulled that shit wherever he lived, because people everywhere dare to have relationships that don't involve him.

Crazy exists everywhere. I doubt you would find a populated place that doesn't have a modicum of crazy to it.

I'm from the Midwest, and to be fair, after having left the area for a few years and then coming back, I sometimes swear we have the monopoly on the deranged. Full of people that will monopolize a WalMart's motorized scooter and loudly proclaim that "Hurr durr I'm Southern and proud!", when in reality, they're from Illinois, and an idiot. The stories I could tell... oy. Anyway.

Elliot was his own brand of crazy, and like several others have said, he basically found an echo chamber on the net that pretty much validated him and the 'pain' of his 'virginity affliction'. What bothers me, aside from the fact this happened and six innocents were killed, was this article I was reading earlier about this fellow who basically said that "more people will die if you don't let us have girlfriends!" Not sure about the article's legitimacy, but if it's true, then sweet buttery jesus...

By the way, I wonder if the media has decided video games are to blame yet? If they haven't, this must be some sort of record. (It totally won't last, though.)

Same here. Being a Southern Californian, I myself have to ask if I myself deserve to perish just because of what Elliot did along with what the Froon saw.

Okay, how about we all cut out the "why do you want a So-Cal genocide?"-faggotry, hmmm?

I dont know if you deserve to perish, maybe you do, maybe you don't...

But I'm preetty sure that the point of his post wasn't literally that he can't wait till millions of people in California die.

Now, the vast majority of us probably have a geographical area, or a particular culture or nationality that we're not too keen on: Like rednecks... Or Canadians... Or bible belt Christians. (Me? Can't stand Germany. And Polaks which is kinda ironic. And especially gypsies, god I loathe them!)

Could it perchance be, that he was merely writing about his dislike of Southern California in a sarcastic and caustic way? And doesn't in fact want all Californians to die?

I think that might be the case here!

Seriously guys, do you also start to inquire about permits, and what kind of ammunition he used, when somebody writes how you shouldn't sell the fur before you have shot the bear?

Or maybe he's a bit of a cunt and deserves it.
Or maybe posting such shit in a thread about a tragic incident deserves disagreement.

Of course he doesn't literally want millions to die - I hope - but he clearly has some sort of weird ire for Californians that's blatantly unjustified, especially considering the fact that his distaste seems to have been based on one trip through the state. As foulmouth said, this is hardly the time and the place, and if he didn't place some sort of value into the things he said he wouldn't have defended it quite so vehemently. A person saying something similar about Asians after the Virginia Tech massacre or about followers of Islam after the Boston marathon bombings would likely be met with as much criticism.

TL;DR we're all allowed to disagree and discuss those disagreements and I don't think that immediately equates to what might be defined as faggotry.

Sorry Atropos, folks who kill innocents are always, ALWAYS crazy. That's not a judgement, it's a law
They're all dicks, but "huge asshole" isn't listed in the DSM-5. Culture definitely has things to do with likelihood to commit a crime. I think his mental state was definitely a factor - he displays really really clear signs of having narcissistic personality disorder, for example - but he was also in an environment where he got most of what he wanted. So when he ran into something he straight up couldn't have, he freaked, because his culture had conditioned him to believe that that wasn't a thing that could possibly happen. That kind of shit straight up does not compute, you dig?

Um, they're not blaming videogames, but the Daily Mail's blaming, and I wish I was kidding, women's asses.

I don't see where they are blaming the photos at all. All I read was that it's something the "virgin killers" father does. I feel bad since his father is being painted by the news as the killers dad rather than for his own accomplishments. Their family is going to be screwed over by this.

Oh, really now? How come then that the insanity plea almost NEVER works and most killers are judge as sane enough to commit the murders they did?
Because 'crazy' and 'psychotic' are not necessarily synonymous. That doesn't mean that you're not a damned lunatic if you think it's ever okay to wantonly kill innocents, let alone en masse. No sane person wakes up one day and just commits mass murder, so just because they aren't hallucinating the devil doesn't mean they're not bona fide madmen

Can't say I do, protoman. You'd call someone crazy if they had an inability to stop hallucinating or being paranoid, but not if they couldn't stop seeing themselves as the just victim in an unjust and oppressive world? Hell, are there any meaningful differences between the two? The outlooks of a disordered personality are every bit as pathological and complex as a 'real' disorder, and can easily be just as dangerous. Crazy is as crazy does, after all

By your definition of madness, insanity is a lack of rationality and the inability to self-reflect. That's a fair enough definition, but I think it's different from what AtroposHeart is talking about. Atropos is talking about mental illness - an issue with a brain that is caused purely by biological circumstances rather than social ones. By your definition, I'd argue that madness could just as easily be a product of culture as it might be a matter of chemical imbalance. Irrationality and narcissism can be taught as well as inherited.

That being said, I'd like to reiterate my own point - I don't think you can argue that either mental illness or culture are solely to blame for this. Neither would have caused this to happen if the other wasn't in place first. Elliot was a product of his defective biology as well as his defective upbringing. He was a narcissist whose delusions regarding self importance were constantly confirmed by those around him. Had he simply been a narcissist living in a lower or middle class home, he would likely have expressed his delusions in another way, perhaps just as violent, perhaps not. If he'd simply been a spoiled kid who believed women were objects but lacked any signs of mental illnesses whatsoever, he would have likely continued disrespecting women who didn't enjoy his company, but his less-repressed ability to self-reflect might have helped him learn how to manipulate some poor woman into being with him for at least a night.

You can't make 2 with only a single 1.

I'm still amazed by the fact that he did absolutely nothing to make his dream come true. His Narcissistic Personality Disorder was so strong that it didn't occur to him that he might have to become active (talking to girls etc.), the world was supposed to cater to his wishes with him just sitting around. When it didn't, he became murderous.

Again, WOW.
:cryblood:

Probably already been said, but I'm not reading through 20+ pages.

I love how people are making his shooting out to be a culture thing without acknowledging that the fact that the guy was severly mentally unbalanced, assuming that he only went on a rampage because he was a misogynist. It's just like when people say that violent vidyas turn people into serial killers. Even a typical wizard/loveshy wouldn't go on a rampage because he's a virgin at 22. You have to be completely insane to do something like this.

Exactly this, the guy didn't kill anyone because he was a virgin/love-shy/whatever, he killed them because he was a deluded nutjob.

I'll admit, it's hilarious to hear him bitch about not being loved and how shitty life is, and then climbing into a nice car. But I think this kid had a severe chemical imbalance. People keep jealously pointing to his money/his father's career as proof that his life was awesome, but just judging from the video, he was a crazy weirdo who didn't know how to behave.

What I think is most interesting about this whole case is the damage control mode his dad's lawyers have gone into. Remember Newtown, where everyone shat all over the mother and father? Yeah, that's not happening here. "They did everything they could!" "Police were notified, they rushed to the scene, it was too late!" They're trying really hard to save Dad's career.

Anyway, it's fucked up and sad that this happened... again. People can point their fingers at whomever they like. The kid's dead, his victims are dead, lives are destroyed.

An interesting thought I heard about Elliot.

How many average/unattractive girls do you figure he shot down/made fun of in his life?

I mean, I don't think he'd be above doing that, given his "Bitches, these sunglasses cost $300, why don't you throw yourselves at me?" attitude.

Likely not many, as he was passive as fuck. he simply walked by girls or would sit in a spot (Hi Chris) and wait for a girl to ask him out.
