Unpopular views about music

I only saw them with the new guy on guitar. I bet the shows were better with Fruciante and even Navarro.
Yeah, that might be a case. I hear a lot of people defending Klinghoffer, and while I have no doubt that he is a capable guitarist, sometimes being in click with your band mates is more important than individual prowess.

They had some pretty neat live jams back in the day:

As a prog fan, I hate "Emerson Lake and Palmer", they could play but could not write music, their best song isn't prog at all (Lucky Man).

Also, "Close to the Edge" by "Yes" is a horrible album (just like almost all of their discography, too much garbage fillers).

ELP was supposedly trying to recruit Hendrix at the time of his death, though I don't know how well even Jimi could fend off Keith Emerson's insistence at injecting boring-as-shit Bach-inspired wankery into every one of their songs.

Really, the keyboardists were the worst thing about prog rock in that era. Only Richard Wright really succeeded at having a style that wasn't obviously referencing Wakeman and Emerson's nonsense.

I don't know if I posted this already, but I've never been a big fan of slow songs. I'm actually glad hardly anyone slow danced with me at school dances because I wouldn't have enjoyed it much.

the new album by gorillaz kinda fucking sucks
That actually seems to be the consensus.

To go off that, Gorillaz only had one great album, and it was Plastic Beach in my opinion. The self titled and Demon Days had some highlights, The Fall and Humanz are trash, but that one is golden.

Black Sabbath's God is Dead fucking blows, it's worse than the Lou Reed and Metallica collaboration. The watered down lyrics do not help.

It's music for nerds and hooligans and rednecks and other rejects, and I'm saying that as affectionately as possible.

I always interpreted it as innately lower class British, since it has it's roots in Birmingham. I agree that Mastodon and Gojira are very entry level and kinda shitty. I never heard of Deathspell Omega. People have told me that Pallbearer is the most depressing shit you'll ever listen to but I don't see it. It seems the more pedestrian metal becomes, the less talent it has. Take this garbage for example.
The sad fact that this has four million views is more depressing than anything Pallbearer could hope to achieve. Look at that lead singer, he is the personification of Hot Topic, down to the prepubescent voice, the Deviantart lyrics and Bart Simpson muscle shirt.

John Bonham's death was the best thing to happen to Led Zeppelin at that point in their career (and I say that as a huge fan)

Because really, do you want to imagine how Zeppelin would have fared in the '80s? A quick listen to The Who and The Rolling Stones' albums during that decade would give you a pretty good idea...

weren't they pretty much bored by that point anyway? not sure i know my Zeppelin history enough.

to me this is the closest thing to a real Zeppelin return in new music there will be

IIRC, Robert Plant's interest was rapidly decreasing after his son died and Bonzo's dislike for touring had reached its peak around that time. Jones and especially Page were keen on continuing Zeppelin as long as they could.

Also, there was the Page and Plant album that came out a few years after the record with Coverdale.
