Here is a compilation of amusing comments I made from the main r/politics thread on the special election in Georgia. Unfortunately I missed the multitude of posts from earlier in the evening when Democrats were starting to chew each other out for either being insufficiently optimistic (we only lost by 6 points instead of 23!!!) or insufficiently realistic (we just wasted 30 million on a chickenshit House race with nothing to show for it!!!)

The thread keeps blowing up so you might find some fresh salt there: https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/6ie3p4/discussion_thread_ga06_and_sc05_special_elections/

"If Ossof wants too win he needs more voters to vote for him"

"How come you did not mention this earlier dumbass he could have won, thanks"

I CAN'T BREATHE!

I just love the "We got merely soundly defeated instead of outright crushed this time the Resistance is working!" argument. Like how deluded can you be?
As a general strategy, it's good for political parties to put up token candidates in most districts, if at the very least, to show the public that there is an alternative. Running three losing campaigns in a row, but showing steady improvement each time can be better than just abandoning the district entirely.

Agreed, but this seemed like much more than just a token candidate judging by the wall-to-wall TV coverage and $50 million spent. Also Fulton and Cobb counties who both voted for Hillary in 2016 went for the Republican candidate this time, which makes it harder to claim progress.

Oh, this is a good reaction from the same r/politics thread.

This bitch is so stupid, when your political party has gone so off the walls insane that people would rather vote for a guy who body slams people the proper response isn't to become more radical it's to stop being so fucking insane and maybe people will vote for you.

They wasted like 30,000x more dosh for 10% better performance tho, and that amount of money was on par with a primary campaign run from a bigshot.

I mean, if my party's going to continue to prove why I refused to vote for them on a federal and even state level, they can go right ahead. I'll just vote Green or GOP or Lib until they want to stop losing.

why are progressives mad a woman got elected into congress? I thought the folks are r/politics wanted more women in office?
"She's a gender-traitor for siding with a literal terrorist organization, so she should be hung like the Nazi she is."

I bet that will be the gist of their sentiments, maybe with a few words changed around depending on the sanity.

Gotta love the lefties calling Handel a "bitch" because remember, it was republican misogynists who kept Clinton out .....
I mean, they're not wrong. She is a bitch. Personally I think this signifies a step forward in gender relations for American politics; with more horrendous women elected we can all have a fun time calling them names, just like with any male candidate.
