Paul Joseph Watson is super triggered by this and is throwing a massive tantrum on Twitter over Depp's comment.

Seems like a lot of energy to be wasted by being this salty over a "washed up" celebrity.

Even Ted Nugent has recently expressed regrets for acting like such an exceptional individual.

When Ted Nugent is the reasonable half of the discussion, you seriously need to check yourself.

Nugent when a Democrat is president: SUCK ON MY MACHINE GUN! SOMEONE SHOULD HANG HIM!
Nugent when a Republican is president: Now now, folks, let's all calm down and be reasonable.

Nugent isn't reasonable, he's just flip-flopping. If he's still alive next time a Democrat is president, I guarantee you there'll be more SUCK ON MY MACHINE GUN shit. If you read the article, he doesn't apologize for shit, he basically slams the left the entire time.

I think people are just tired of "artists", both on the right and on the left, talking about politics, a subject many have proven to have little to no understanding.

I also think many of these celebs got spoiled from the second Bush term up to the end of the Obama presidency. During that time period their views were either seen as very "hip and edgy" or in sync with the general opinion of the population, especially among the younger demographic. That is not the case today, and it seems many people now largely ridicule entertainers as wannabe know-it-alls with no substance. That has to annoy some of them, especially when Trump and other conservative figures were seen as more favorable than them.

The only thing I remember from the Bush years is American Idiot and System of a Down. Was media really as Bush-centered as it's Trump-centered now?

I legitimately feel as if people are getting exhausted. Everyone's sick of hearing about Trump, which means less people are willing to defend Johnny Depp if he says stupid shit. I have liberal friends who have stopped watching a lot of TV shows because it's just constant Trump Trump Trump Trump.

It was sort of the apex of Micheal Moore's schtick, actually.
Well, yeah. You also had Rock Against Bush, Rage Against the Machine, Noam Chomsky reaching mainstream appeal, I think there was a Blink 182 album that had a silly looking Bush on the cover, the Dixie Chicks...

Huh. Well, no one was threatening to kill Bush this often when it comes to celebrities, right?

Hail to the Thief is a Bush reference, too, iirc.

But, yeah, I don't recall there being nearly as many celebrity calls for assassination.

It did feel like a heyday of effigy burning by the everyday proletariat, though.

I remember there was a minor uproar when Game of Thrones had Bush's head on a pike in one of the earlier episodes...but that's all I can come up with.

I have no idea what's gotten into celebrities lately. This election really has driven people to the brink of insanity (and beyond).

I'm sure there was a lot of stupid stuff said about Bush that just never got publicizied. You've got to remember that presidency came before everyone had a phone in their pocket capable of shooting video and using the internet. You act retarded on stage now and someone will upload a video to Twitter or Youtube within minutes.

Mosh by Eminem was about Bush

I honestly don't give a rip about Johnny Depp, and everyone is responsible for his or her own actions, but I am going to point out that Depp's fanbase is made up of some extremely weird and freaky people.

For example: "Gethsemane Butler", who did self-insert "fanfiction" rehashes of many of Depp's films and regarded Sweeney Todd as a precious cinnamon roll whose mass murders were fully justified because he was sad and pretty. (She'd probably actually be good fodder for the Farms, assuming she's active anywhere these days.)

This dude needs to not be talking about how he would like to see Trump dead. Just sayin'.
