An active shooter alert has been issued for a large area in and around Tumbler Ridge in B.C.'s northeast.

The alert was issued Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. PT by RCMP, and it covers Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek and areas surrounding them.

Police say those in the Tumbler Ridge area should stay indoors and shelter in place, and not leave their homes.

The suspect in the case has been described as a woman in a dress with brown hair.

Anyone who sees the suspect has been asked not to approach them and to call 911.

Troons are a physical and emotional danger to their siblings. If one of your kids troons out, god forbid, you should have them live separately from your other children. The parents can temporarily split up and one take the troon with them to an apartment. Maybe you can get extended family to help somehow if there's a single mom (as usual).

I'm partial to "crazed gunberg" myself. It's gender-neutral, belies the political convenience of these incidents, and hearkens back to "crazed gunman." I imagine being called a crazed gunman would be infuriating, especially if you were crazy, but also if you're a political extremist like all those university professors (you know, the ones that started their careers with firebombs and killing forestry workers with nail-based IEDs) were back in the old days.

This happening in NE BC gives me hope that the families of the victims will push back against the RCMP, looking for a civil judgment. For those not really familiar with Canadian political demos, the rural parts of BC tend to be more conservative than Vancouver/Victoria (the two major urban centers who lean very left.)

(That will likely result in a hush money settlement and sealed records, yes, but let me have a moment of hopium.)
