My [33NB] Brother[29 cis M]'s girlfriend[28-30? cis F] is playing HW Legacy, blew up into a family fight
Hi y'all, posting on my old account because people involved know my main account, names changed etc.
I'm hoping to get a sanity check on my behavior.
I'm very close with my family, no problems with them accepting my transition, they gender me correctly and have for years.
My brother Matt got a girlfriend about a year ago. While he and I have been best friends and roommates for years, I moved away with my partner Erin [30 cis F] shortly after he and his girlfriend Lena met to get out of the US. This has been tough on all of us due to time differences and not having physical regularly scheduled hangouts.
I've been trying to get to know her better so I've been Snapchatting between our sparse video calls. One day Lena sent me a picture of her playing HW Legacy and I scolded her and told her to pirate it instead. She said she downloaded it as part of the playstation pass and so she didn't buy it. I explain that JK is still getting money through that. She stops answering.
I try to explain to Matt on our next video call why it's a problem. He refuses to talk to her about it and says I'm over reacting, the money is small, she's already a billionaire, and I need to be able to compromise with family.
I draw the boundary of not associating with people who give Rowling money, he says if I'm not associating with her he's not associating with me.
The rest of the family is split and everyone just wants to go back to the way things were, but this is important to me and I feel like it would be compromising my values to back down. I'd love to get some opinions from other trans people on the issue. What should I do?
The /tg/ Magic threads on 4chan have produced some amusing salt over this possibility. A lot of the "she's woke and you only like her because she makes people mad," a bit of the "she's a hateful bigot and fuck you if you like her." Decent yields from both ends of the horseshoe. You need to look into the Magic the Gathering community specifically rather than just Hasbro. The MTG community is filled with MTFs.

How to organize a Commander night, for any non-MTG players who are curious. Step 1 - open your friends' group chat. Step 2 - does anyone wanna play magic on Saturday?

This one at least has a point - if you try to import an average HP fight scene from one of the books into MTG it's just gonna be two retards slapping each other with counterspell.

I would gladly call myself a Ravenclaw if it meant troons would leave me aloneYou, a rube: calling yourself a Ravenclaw at 39, let me guffaw at your selfish immaturity.
Me: erm.
This one is the only actual sane idea of the bunch though. Instead of whining about Rowling, create your own thing. You can just do this. But they rarely do. No wonder that one doesn't have any interaction, people just want to complain and pretend to be activists instead of actually creating anythingThe whole thread is like a drunken liars' convention. I saved my favourite for last:

A politically militant TiM tries to take his brother's lady to task for downloading - not pirating - Hogwarts Legacy, which the brother sees as such an overreaction that he declares that if OP can't hang with his honey then he won't hang with his brother. Now the entire family is being sucked into the whirlpool of drama
A tranny making drama because someone didn't do what he wanted is par for the course. It's almost impossible to get mad about it, it would be like getting mad at a scorpion for stinging a frog. The rest of the family is split
Troons when they go to Hogwarts and get a house.I would gladly call myself a Ravenclaw if it meant troons would leave me alone
Although I absolutely believe entire institutions can be and clearly are captured by trans madness and anti-reality, I do not believe HBO Max to be anti-money.Maybe the entire reason for the HP reboot is just a way to torpedo the franchise to spite Rowling, because it sure fucking seems that way.
Negro Snape and all the implications this will generate storywise, a literal who executive producer with little credentials, mystery meat Hermione, TV series format, budget of possibly 100mil per episode, Rowling already strategically distancing herself from the project, etc etc. It looks like a recipe for disaster.
Harry Potter also sells well the books, games, parks, I mean in all reality outside of troons and their insane online circle jerk and the celebrity/"journalist" virtue signaling assholes this isn't an issue in the real world. If you asked any rando on the street their opinions on Harry Potter and its negative effects on the trans community because of JK Rawling they'd look at you like "WTF". Snape being black in the new show will probably turn more people off than any of the shit with troons simply because people either don't know about the troon shit or don't care.Although I absolutely believe entire institutions can be and clearly are captured by trans madness and anti-reality, I do not believe HBO Max to be anti-money.
HBO will want HP to be a success, because $40m mansions for its executives don't buy themselves.
Hey I remember thisSince we are talking about HP cards game, am I the only one who remember HP arleady had a CTG in the past? (I think I still have them in one of my old boxes somewhere)
Atleast my entertainment hasn’t shot up a bunch of schools. It really is!

What the “but that video game! Harry Potter is too big to fail!”-crowd is also missing: The game failed.
Sure, it had great sales because a lot of fans were waiting for something like this and it was marketed to hell and back. But as a game, it failed.
Reviews are pretty mid, especially those who focus on more than the first couple hours. The completion rate is abysmal. A lot of players never stuck around to see the end credits (let along 100%ed it).
While it won some awards, that number is solidly in the single digits - you can count them on one hand. And not just that - it wasn't even nominated for The Game Awards 2023 (the big award-thingy of the year).
And then its DLC got canned.
Like ... this isn't what a successful game looks like. The only space it succeeded was sales, and that was due to marketing and Rowling-supporters buying multiple copies to support Rowling. (And while the marketing-thing worked once, it won't keep working, unless they actually start making good games. And the franchise doesn't have a particular good track record, when it comes to that. I still don't understand how Hogwarts Mystery is able to keep itself afloat.)

Last night I was listening to Mark zuckerberg's harvard commencement speech."Now, an entrepreneurial culture thrives when it's easy to try lots of new ideas. Facebook wasn't the first thing I built. I also built games, chat systems, study tools and music players.. not alone. JK Rowling got rejected 12 times before publishing Harry Potter. Even Beyonce had to make hundreds of songs to get Halo. The greatest successes come from having the freedom to fail."

I'm surprised all these women campaigning for women's rights haven't shared the same concern for biological women. Just ask J.K. Rowling, our modern-day Shakspear, what she has gone through sticking up for women's rights, including being cancelled in the US.

Manldw reveals his simplistic mindset right off the bat, inviting readers to imagine a world of perfect income equality that is suddenly disrupted by the rise of an entrepreneur -- think "Steve Jobs as he develops the iPod, J.K. Rowling as she writes her Harry Potter books, or Steven Spielberg as he directs his blockbuster movies" -- who gets rich because everybody loves his or her products. Suddenly there is income inequality, egads!

"In virtually every field of endeavor that I have researched, the most successful people are those who pressed on regardless of how many obstacles were put in front of them." Samit wrote for the Wall Street Journal earlier this year. Henry Ford. J K Rowling. Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney, and even Bill Gates suffered failure early in their careers. Their success was achieved by using this failure to disrupt their own self-image — leading them to re-imagine what they were capable of. "Being able to disrupt your self-image in the face of failure is the true test of an entrepreneur's mettle.' In this talk, Samit will explain how to disrupt your self-image, and turn experimentation and failure into continuing success.

Colossal cope.

What, Ethel doesnt look like this?!This is what he looks like as of late, btw.

Don't forget Luna Lovegood's actress, Evanna Lynch! Though Luna is definitely not really part of the core group since she didn't show up until the 5th book.Next time a troon whinges about how irrelevant JK Rowling and Harry Potter are, remind them that even almost 30 years later Pottermania is still going on so strong that the chinese use the characters for their normie-tier memes. And it's Draco, whose actor was one of the only ones to back up Rowling.
10 points to Slytherin.

Yeah, but it only got an 85% critic score, so it was basically a major embarrassment. And yet... as of this moment Hogwarts Legacy has more people playing it than Highguard at it's release peak. 6k are playing as we live and breath. And the game is what? Three years old now? Four? Lol.
Just to illustrate how they are lying here (going with Steam stats, but I doubt consoles are that much different)Reviews are pretty mid, especially those who focus on more than the first couple hours. The completion rate is abysmal. A lot of players never stuck around to see the end credits (let along 100%ed it).
