Where is the fucking campaign ad, John?

I'm not much of a computer guy, but those tweets are nonsensical. The SNES one just sounds like some insane tweet mashup, its possible meaning (the SNES paved the way for low-cost chips in everything) is absurd. ARM is a kind of RISC, and that's been around a long time.

I sometimes wonder if a lot of this stuff isn't bait for unwary men to come and try to correct him, but this seems to be his general level of coherence and understanding.

John is complaining about a rule that keeps political campaign ads from putting text in obscure formats and otherwise hiding it to conceal the source of funding for ads.
the average person would roll their eyes on the vagueness of "it has to be readable" and maybe gripe about it
wu has to lie about the rules and then rant about it

Why would John be opposed to rules like that?
I CANT ADD LENS FLARE AND GARISH COLORS!!

God save us.

Oh for fucks sake. Every single word of this is utter bollocks. Every. Single. Word.

It doesn't take a genius to compare the number of pixels per second you have to render and compare it with the CPU clock speed to work out that you're not doing graphics on the SNES by stuffing pixels in to a framebuffer.

In fact, it's pretty straightforward. The layout of a "level"'s background (however your game wants to organise itself) is just some big pointer tables in the ROM that you tell the graphics co-processor to look at. You can scroll the background layers with just one register write and it does vertical and horizontal scrolling all in hardware. You do have to keep track of where your foreground sprites are and move those manually, but again it's just changing a couple of values in your sprite pointer table. There are some caveats as to palettes and how many sprites you can render per scanline, but it's all pretty straightforward.

Nothing about the SNES register interface is particularly complex, you can fit the whole documentation on a 5 or 6 pages. Just because to Wu any sort of programming knowledge might as well be magic, doesn't mean any of this stuff is spectacularly hard. Bringing up irrelevancies like garbage collection only serves to illustrate how little Wu knows. Because the SNES is MMUless and single processing and has no backing store to create virtual memory, the whole concept of dynamic allocation is a nonsense. You just have to map out how you're going to use the RAM provided. If anything, it's actually simpler than programming a modern computer.

You guys ever watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Brianna reminds me of Charlie's creepy uncle with this shit. Between the recent "vocal chord surgery" and the fact that she's always hiring cis women to voice (or in the case of non-existent Lauren MiLovy, be photographed) in her place. It always makes me think about Charlie's uncle's hangups about his tiny hands.

Can you imagine if she went the MiLovy route for her campaign ads? "Brianna Wu is too shy to appear in front of district 8 voters and would love for a woman to stand in for her."

Fucking crackpot.

Wu is merely pretending to make ads. Because making ads would require effort.

There is no ad. It will be done next week.

If she ever does get around to releasing an ad or holding anything resembling a campaign event in District 8, I imagine that will be the end of this particular cosplay. After releasing R60 (actual years late) and spending half a million dollars on the fucking thing, she dragged her feet even more on the Steam release... in part because, yes, the actual workers she hired quit, but also because she's got ADD like a motherfucker.

As soon as she does any amount of "work" that makes this campaigning thing not-fun-anymore, she's going to fucking quit.

If she quits before the primary, expect all mentions of the campaign to quietly disappear as she begins hawking her next scam. This is the most likely scenario. If she does stick it out through primary, it's only because she has a killer concession speech she wants to go viral.
