I worked at GameStop during the 'Console War' in the beginning near Christmas time and all anyone ever asked for was the Wii. There was never hate or animosity towards anyone who came in for a Wii.
idk where he thinks everyone was crucified for mentioning the Wii anywhere on forums because the threads I was active in everyone was eagerly awaiting the release date then checking and calling our stores every Wed to ask if we had a new shipment yet. Parents went so far as to give their children/teens a PS3 and XBOX360 to shut them up about crying about not having a Wii.
I don't see why he has to pretend he's some special snowflake for liking what everyone else likes.

It's mainly for the attention and wanting to be noticed. I mean he has no comics to speak of as of late (or much of any art, for that matter). The problem is that he's utterly generic when it comes to his opinions on liking something. And it gets annoying as soon as you realize it's pretty much copy-paste when it comes to his likes.

Because Dobson also has a victim complex, he pretends that those dang, dirty dudebro gamers crucified him for liking the Wii. Of course, the real reason is due to Flopson's inability to not be a tool for even one minute, but leaving that part in would contradict his agenda.

It comes from Dobson's own experiences on a gaming forum he joined many years ago. He kept sperging about how the Wii was the most amazing and sophisticated console to ever exist, and that the cutesy games that dominated the Wii's library were of much better quality than the gritty and mature games that were popular on the other major consoles. Naturally most of the other members mercilessly mocked and picked apart the bullshit that Dobson spewed out constantly, earning themselves a special place on Dobson's infinitely expanding shitlist. The relatively harmless criticism and trolling from years ago have stuck with him for all these years and have been exaggerated and twisted in Dobson's sad lonely, mind to the point where he now believes that the majority of the entire gaming world constant shat on the Wii and looked down on it as a children's plaything (which all video games technically are) and that the infantile hate-filled comics he drew about them are actually scathing commentary that sent all Nintendo naysayers into a blind frenzy as they tried to defend their pitifully skewed mindset.
TL;DR: Dobson became the local lolcow of some old gaming site and made some shitty comics in a pathetic attempt to get back at them, and now Dobson has once again performed amazing mental gymnastics to make himself seem less sad and feel like he's actually important in some minuscule way.
